Gods & Monsters - THEA by Macabre Gadgets mythological jewelry editorial inspired by Ancient Greek pottery and the graphic visual language it created. A world where terrifying creatures and powerful gods shared space with the most everyday objects, where mythology stepped into the daily life.

Featuring our Siren — not a mermaid, but the ancient bird-creature whose song lured sailors to their doom. Over the coming weeks, more characters will emerge from the pottery—each with their own mythology, their own jewelry, their own reading.

Olive a Branch ring - hand crafted in solid sterling silver.

Some of the oldest olive trees can live for over a thousand years. Their branches are gnarled, asymmetric, alive with texture — nothing like the smooth decorative leaf motifs that pass for botanical jewelry. This ring starts there.

Two branches, forged and carved by hand in sterling silver. Prickly leaves in sharp relief. Small olives catching the light. The branches cross and are tied together with a fine lace — a gesture that feels both ancient and intimate.

The ring is open, wrapping the finger like a gentle embrace, as though the branch was lifted from the tree and worn exactly as found. Sterling silver mirrors the natural silvery-grey tone of olive leaves — a colour that no other metal quite replicates.

Marble Phallus Pendant ⚫️ macabregadgets.com

The phallus has been one of the most enduring symbols of the ancient world. In Ancient Greece and Rome, it could represent fertility, vitality, strength and divine power, while also serving as a powerful apotropaic symbol — an object believed to protect against the evil eye and misfortune.

Phallic amulets were worn on the body, carried as talismans, and displayed in homes and public spaces. In Ancient Rome, the fascinus — particularly the divine winged phallus — became one of the best-known forms of this protective imagery.

In antiquity, the phallus was not considered obscene - it was considered divine, powerful, and protective. The ring features two phalluses, positioned on either side of the open ring, mirroring the two-faced ancient Roman god Janus, who symbolizes beginnings, endings, and duality of all things - the deity after whom January is named.

Unlike monumental marble sculpture, pottery belonged to everyday life. It passed from hand to hand, accompanying meals, rituals, celebrations, and mourning. Even after two thousand years, fingerprints, brushstrokes, and carved lines still survive on their surfaces. That sense of intimacy — objects shaped by human hands, carrying mythology into daily life — became the starting point for a new chapter of THEA: jewelry inspired by the forms, decoration, and sculptural language of ancient Greek pottery.
