“My Body is One With The Ocean and Her Waves”
22x28 inches, Lithography print
this piece is my pride and joy of the semester, she truly was a labor of love with all the help i got from my dear friends who helped me move the stone around the print shop, shoutout to @piecesofjupiter for helping me combine screen-printing and lithography techniques to make this!

this piece is about my experience with being diagnosed with scoliosis when i was younger and how i used my love of the ocean as a coping mechanism. one of the few things that helped with my back pain at the time was the weightlessness of floating in water, and the biting cold that made my aching muscles numb

print exchange! (plus one of eli‘s cool ass gradients at the end) the theme for these was songs so i just used it as an excuse to print some fish in cmyk, but i wish i had been braver and used a song more personal to me instead of just choosing something on a whim. i still love how these turned out and it was my first time doing cmyk so i learned a lot and i dont regret it at all but im itching to do another cmyk with more thought put into it in the future :)

photo dump! thank you to everyone who went to the student art show last night! your attendance meant everything to me. these past few months have been so full of light and love, im so thankful for all the new friends ive made this semester and the support ive gotten. before meeting all these new people i had felt so lonely at school, and now i can confidently say that being an artist no longer feels isolating for me anymore. i remember never wanting to stay on campus any longer than i had to, and taking my art pieces home every day to work on them there. these days i hardly ever want to go home, everyday im inspired by you all in ways id never expected and im so so so glad to have met such an amazing and talented group of people. i hope we make so many more memories. by @macaroni_max_

my most recent sculpture: “Heredado de Mis Padres”
made from a recycled table and alcohol bottles, each bottle has screen printed lyrics from Elliott Smiths “Between the Bars” a song sung from the point of view of the addiction trying to convince you to relapse. The closer you look at each bottle the more warped the lyrics become, changing size and shape until at some points it becomes indecipherable, similar to how warped one’s perception becomes the more drunk they get. The table is old and falling apart, it is symbolic of the deterioration of the mind and body that addiction causes. Next to it theres only one chair and no shot glasses, implying that the drinks were consumed by one person, not shared.

This piece is something very personal to me as someone who is very prone to developing harmful addictions, and as someone who has lost multiple family members to substance abuse.
