I grew up in front of this Juke Junt in the 90s and early 2000s. At 11,12 and 13 years old I would open my bedroom window and let the Blues and Soul Vibes in from across the street while I hit my 2step. 🤣 Every Friday and Saturday night they would start off with Betty Wright "Tonight is the Night" You knew it was ON when you heard that famous bassline pumping through the neighborhood. This experience is why Soul music will always be a part of my life. I came up on Marvin Sease,JohnnieTaylor,Bobby Womack,Isley Brothers,Bloodstone,Z.Z. Hill and many more. Dice games and dominoe games would commence right across the street in front the club,while pool was played on the inside. I heard some legendary sh*t talking as a young boy.🤣 This spot stood for at least 60 years that I know of,maybe even longer. Somebody burned it down about 2 years ago,but the memories remain. I know many people from Texas to Louisiana to Mississippi can relate having grown up with a place like this in their neighborhood. The ambience in those southern Black neighborhoods was a vibe back then. Shout out to my kinfolk and hometown hero @d3chalieboy for putting it in his "Ridin Slabs Forever" video and leaving us with a visual. p.s. I had an old head shoot at me at this club 10 years ago,because he thought I tried to run his drunk ass over. 🤣 I've lived an eventful life and I've been thankful for every bit of it. One of my favorite places to take pictures. Westside Hearne,Tx! My Family (Long& Malone) have been in This area since the unfortunate time of slavery. Approximately 200 years. Roots run deep. The ancestors made a way straight out of reconstruction and my Great Grandaddy was one of the first Black Men to aquire a vast amount of acreage in this area. Right outside of town my family collectively owns 350+ acres that was passed down from him. My father is of carribean Latino descent and also has a French last name,but I was raised on my Mother's side. Black American rural Texas where there is a Baptist church on every other block,the candy lady around the corner,a juke junt pumpin blues music Friday and Saturday night and also the same place I played hide n go get it as a kid.🤣 Although it's nowhere as live as it was in the 90s,I'm still thankful for the heavy dose of Soul and Spirituality I acquired growing up here. Long Live My Great Anties,GreatGrandMoma,Reverend O.W. Mack,Grandaddy,Ms.Jhonnie May and many many others. Love my Hometown. taken in Hearne, Texas by @maceo_long

A fish sandwich in a vending machine eating az nigha!🤣🤣🤣 I live in Memphis and work in Arkansas. Saw this at work in Arkansas. Shout out to whoever it is that's innovating the vending machine game. Unc Nem! Long Family! Won't stop telling our story. We been in Gause and Hearne Texas over 150 years and the Malone Family been here 200. Folks hustled up right out of reconstruction and we have a ton of acreage in this area. Proud of where I'm from. by @maceo_long

Damn near want to shed a tear seeing @d3chalieboy taking Hearne,Tx all the way to the Grammys! Coming from a Soulful Town of only 4,000 you did it for us all Cuz! It's a real celebration 🍾🍾 🍾 From starting off in the Texas mixtape game dropping classics to becoming a Legend! One of the most inspiring things I've seen in life. I don't believe in God as a giant dude with a white beard sitting on a cloud in the sky,but as The Infinite,Divine and Limitless Source of Energy/Spirit/Love we come from. Even though I cant fully define that greatness in words,I'm Thankful to my Creator for the miracle of existence. by @maceo_long
