GO SLOW TO GET FASTER . Sometimes you need to take things slow to get back on track and better in the long term. This was the first ride after a dental surgery. Well
it didn’t go exactly as planned and had to cut it shorter. . After a lot of surgeries, illnesses and bumps in the road I definitely learned that taking your time to recover is better in the long run. Might be disappointing at that point in time but you thank yourself later on. . Just try and make the best out of it. Like we always do @claryda - was fun spinning the legs for a bit. And a good chance to test the new @sramroad powermeter and the new @envecomposites AG28 wheelset. 650b might not be as popular anymore but it just adds a lot of versatility to a bike. Switching between 700c for the road and 650b for gravel is a combination I really love. VERY SOON . Soon we are back in Girona. Can’t wait to spend time there again - a place which is special and feels like home. Can’t wait to see friends, enjoy daily coffees, local food & cavas. And for sure some nice rides with the focus on having a good time together. . Really good memories from our ride with @gingerkid_jac out towards Emporda, cruising on small country lanes, discovering a great new spot for a stop at the square in Verges, back over Els Àngels and the beautiful descend back into Girona. And for sure post ride visit to @espressomafia . In case someone is interested in the route you can find it in my ‚Girona Collection‘ on @komoot under my profile ‚mach_Bar‘ . Those who followed the story about all the surgeries know that it still isn’t where it should be. One day it might all been solved and the limits are lifted, but the focus will remain on having fun, enjoy the time and celebrate life. . GIRONA - let’s celebrate . Girona is a special place for us. It feels like home and there is so much to enjoy in town. From seeing friends, amazing coffees @espressomafia, the food & cavas to the stunning riding in the area. . What better place to enjoy our honeymoon. Celebrate us and what we have found in each other @claryda - I love you endlessly. . Heading out to Emporda with the idea to say Hi @rustik.emporda - but honeymoon meant to sleep long and we missed the opening hours. But as in most small villages in Catalunya you always find a small bar with refreshments and snacks. . Riding @envecomposites Melee from @velodrom.cc was again so much fun. Absolutely in love with the Melee. I’ve ridden and tested many bikes before - this is one of the best ones ever. So balanced, fast and beautiful. . It’s been a long road to get back to cycling after the surgeries and still not where I want to be. When there are limits on what’s possible you make them count. Enjoy the rides more and focus on having a good time instead of chasing goals and KOM’s. . One day it might all been solved and the limits are lifted, but the focus will remain on having fun, enjoy the time and celebrate life. . TAKE THE RIGHT TURN . If you can choose - take the right turn. No problem to get lost on a ride. But sometimes life can take turns out of your control. Over a year ago I left the hospital after my second leg surgery. They should have fixed the issue with the blood flow to my calves. A long and tough healing process followed and then the shocking news - sort of #oneinamillion chances that it wasn’t solving the issue. And it didn’t solve it. The journey continues #roadtorecovery . But I will keep going and fight my way back - and enjoy the things I have and the things I‘m able to do. One of those things is heading out with the bike, explore and ride. . ELS ÀNGELS . If you’ve ever been in Girona you quite likely ridden up here - Els Àngels. So close to the city, quiet and perfect tarmac. #GRAVELON . With the grey and cold days I miss those sunny gravel rides in Girona with @claryda & @gingerkidjak even more. TRAVEL TIME . Travelling with the bike and all the kit can be hard but can be made a lot easier with the right accessories. Bike bag is one thing. but what about the rest? . For me it works best to book the bike bag (my favourite is the @sciconsports Aerocomfort) as the sport luggage, pack most in there and take the most valuable things into your hand luggage. MacBook and Leica for sure but also the things you don’t wanna miss when your bike arrives late or could be damaged. . Therefore I pack helmet, shoes and pedals into the hand luggage. That way you can always rent a bike just in case. . My absolute new favourite to do all that is the Chrome Industries Barrage Cargo - 22l Rolltop backpack, watertight with the perfect storage for the helmet. And in the cool ‘black XRF’ it’s reflective and I can use it to ride safely. And all that is the perfect hand luggage size. . And for sure never travelling without Distorted People clothing.
