POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Hi everyone!

Soooo we have some absolutely incredible news to share! It turns out Machka (who we now know also as Mişa 🥰) wasn’t a street dog in Turkey after all. She was actually raised by a lovely woman named Funda in a loving and happy home in Elbistan, Turkey. Through an unbelievable stroke of luck, Funda just so happened to stumble across Machka/Mişa’s IG and sent her a DM. 😭💗

We are still learning from each other thanks to translations on WhatsApp and through Kylen’s wonderful Turkish friend and neighbor, Leyla, who has been kind enough to serve as a translator for us. We do want to share at the outset that Funda made a choice that no mother should ever have to make after the earthquake took everything away from her and her community: She made the impossible, yet selfless decision to give Machka/Mişa to a rescue organization so that Machka/Mişa had her best chance at a safe and happy life. She had been searching for answers to where Machka/Mişa ended up ever since, and after 3 long years of searching and wondering, we are happy to share that she now knows Machka/Mişa is safe and very loved by Kylen in NYC. 😭💗

There is so much more to this incredible story that we will share with all of you soon. In the meantime, please take a look at these BABY pictures of Machka/Mişa. 🥹😭🥰

With love from Machka/Mişa’s two mommies,
Funda and Kylen 💗

I am honored and excited to announce my canine-didacy for Honorary NYC Dog Mayor!

From being born on the streets of Elbistan, Türkiye, to being rescued by @fundabekciw, to surviving a major car accident at 2 months old that cost me a leg, to surviving the historic 2023 Türkiye-Syria earthquakes that separated me from my family, to being given a second (third, or maybe fourth?) chance thanks to @morpatidernegi and @gwarp.official (@dgeorge21 + @kerrybk1126) who kept me safe for 17 months before finding my furever home with @kylenbutton in Sunnyside, Queens — my survival, let alone canine-didacy for @dogmayornyc, would not have been possible without each one of you. Thank you for giving me this opportunity. I’m excited to earn your vote for Honorary NYC Dog Mayor.

First round of voting starts July 22! NYC residency is NOT required; you can vote from anywhere worldwide! Links on where and how to vote in bio!

I’d like to give a special thank you to the amazing designers at @punchrva for creating this incredible campaign sign 🥹💕.

Sen proudly endorses @machkakeke for dog mayor! As a fellow immigrant form queens with a tragic backstory, Sen and machka have a lot in common!

In all seriousness kylen has done an amazing job with machkas campaign and I believe machka would make a great mayor. Her spirit for activism and relatable vibe are what this city needs :)
