For even his own brothers did not believe in him. John 7:5

Just because people do not acknowledge who you are and what you bring to the table doesn’t stop you from being exactly who you are and it doesn’t stop you from bringing to the table. We have a tendency to view ourselves in the light and perspective of others. Never reduce yourself to the opinions and views of what others think you are. Jesus never let the perspective or views of others stop him from being Lord and Savior. Whether they believed in him or not, did not stop him from being who He was.
The goal is to be more like Jesus every day. Regardless of what the opinions or views of others are, every day I have to think, I know who I am, I know what I bring to the table, but most importantly I know who God says I am.

With a cane in hand, I limped my way to the doctor’s office. I was feeling tired, sad and alone. As I walked along, a random stranger smiled and told me that I was going to be ok and that this was only temporary. Those few words were sweet to my soul. I felt that God used this not so random stranger who did know how my day was or how I was feeling, to remind me that He was closer than I thought. You see, I didn’t take these words of encouragement for my foot, but for how I was feeling on the inside. These words were a reminder that I wasn’t alone, that He is near, even when I don’t feel it.

When you are sad, He is near.
When you feel depressed, He is near.
When you feel anxious, He is near.
When things don’t go your way, He is near.
When life is a mess, He is near.
No matter the situation, He is near. taken in Boogie Down Bronx by @maci.speaks

/ Fear - Less /

Immediately he spoke to them and said, 'Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.'” Mark 6:50

Fear is crippling, it can literally stop you. I have feared so many things on this journey! I focused on the “what if”. The thing about what if, is that it doesn’t exist. We have all these what if scenarios that have not happened yet, and we become terrified of something that has NOT happened. I have surrendered fear and have to make sure that I don’t pick it back up because some days fear creeps in ready to be strapped back up like a Fanny pack. There are days that I have to simply shut off the what if and remind myself of WHAT IS. I remind myself that God is with me and I surrender again. Yes, we at times have to surrender again!
Surrender fear today, even if it’s the 100th time.

/ REST /

If you know me well, you will know that I am on the go, I am always doing something or working. I don’t know how to rest/be still. It’s something that God has been working in me for some time. I would find myself constantly busy, doing one thing after another with the result of feeling emotionally and mentally exhausted. Early morning, late nights, even on the weekends. I looked up the word rest in the Bible and few verses came up, but one in particular stood out.  Genesis 2:2 “By the seventh day God had finished the work He had been doing; so on the seventh day He rested from all his work.” God rested! When he finished what He was doing he rested! Saturday, I chose to be intentional about resting and it felt good. Was I tempted to get up and make moves,  was it a bit difficult to sit still, absolutely lol, but I rested. My rest consisted of relaxing in bed watching movies and prayer. The next day I woke up refreshed, renewed and ready to conquer the day. How do you rest?

I was thinking about this quote and it reminded me of the cracks on the cement sidewalk pavement. Have you ever seen a flower growing in between the cracks? I have seen them on several occasions and as I think about it, those flowers are really not supposed grow or be there. It”s a sidewalk made out of cement, there is no grass, trees or dirt anywhere near there, yet that flower bloomed. Flowers don’t grow on sidewalks, yet it happens . Paul and Silas were planted in a jail cell and they praised God and sang hymns while they were incarcerated (Acts 16:25) Paul and Silas bloomed where they were planted, even if it was a jail cell. They could of easily sat there and complained, but no they took the opportunity to BLOOM.
You see, it’s not about whether Paul and Silas or the flower could bloom or not, it’s about being able to bloom regardless of where you’re at or your situation. Today, chose to BLOOM regardless of where you’re at or what your situation is. BLOOM where God has planted you!

“While he was still speaking a crowd came up, and the man who was called Judas, one of the Twelve, was leading them. He approached Jesus to kiss him, but Jesus asked him, “Judas, are you betraying the Son of Man with a kiss?” When Jesus’ followers saw what was going to happen, they said, “Lord, should we strike with our swords?” And one of them struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his right ear. But Jesus answered, “No more of this!” And he touched the man’s ear and healed him.”
Luke 22:47-51

Jesus was about to be arrested and en route to be crucified--it was a rough and dark day. Peter, trying to defend Jesus, cuts off the ear of the high priest's servant. Jesus touches the servant's ear and heals him instantly. Y'all...this blew me away! Jesus is en route to be killed, He knows the pain and suffering He is about to face, He knew it was going to be tough and it was going to hurt and yet He stops to meet the needs of the servant. Jesus healed one of the men who is literally coming for Him. Even on His toughest assignment, Jesus was still Kingdom focused. I pray that even in the darkest days, we can extend a helping hand to anyone who needs it whether a friend or foe. You see, even on our darkest days, we have Jesus and I want to always extend Jesus to someone else on their dark day as well.

| Use what you have

I was at the bakery getting breakfast before work. There was a man outside with a cup who was asking for money. I decided to get him breakfast and felt prompted to pray for him. I talked with him and asked if I could pray for him. We prayed and he told me that he did have faith in God. As I walked back to my car, I was reminded of
Acts 3:6  when Peter told the lame man “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.” Peter acknowledged what he did not have, but chose to focus on what he did have. Peter had the power of God with him. At the bakery, not only did I have the power of God with me, but I also had a prayer, oatmeal, bread and a listening ear. I used what I had.  Ladies and gentlemen, let's focus on what we have rather than on what we don’t have. It could be as simple as a hug, a listening ear or simply checking in on someone to see how they are doing. You have the power of God in you, and that alone is enough! Use what you have.

But he never left them without evidence of Himself and His goodness…. Acts 14:17

I have been journeying through the book of Acts and this verse hit home. God has never left me without evidence of who He is and His goodness. I think about every single time God has shown up, provided, healed and answered a prayer. I simply love the fact that He gave evidence, like I know you might have some doubt, so here is some evidence. Not only am I going to give you evidence, but I am going to sprinkle in my goodness. It shows the sovereignty of God that He is always going to show us who He is, and is going to remind us of His goodness. I think of all the times God has given me evidence through an answered prayer & the reminders that He is listening to me. I think of the moments that I am instantly filled with His peace when I am overwhelmed or when I am at awe of a beautiful sunset He has made. What evidence has God shown you of himself or of his goodness?
