I talk to the moon
Writing my debut novel as a sahm

I had the best view this morning, sitting on the bench watching the people I love most on earth draw on the fence. I ran into the house, grabbing my camera to capture a glimpse of the moment. Aspen, barefoot in the dress she demanded to put on. Navy living in her own world. The trees casting shadows over the yard. The birds chirping—that you obviously can’t hear. And yes, I’m the one that wrote daddy is hot and kind. But all of it was something I wanted to remember forever. by @macimcevoy
If you asked me to describe my book, I’d ramble on about Elodie and the animals she talks to on her journey. Instead, here’s a collage I made in 3 minutes that makes me feel like I’m in the book. When we found out Luna‘s cancer was more aggressive I started taking photos of everything. I still don’t think I have enough, but I would take photos of her little fingers and toes. I was afraid I was going to lose her even though I never fully comprehend that she could die. After she passed away, I found myself looking at those photos a lot. The details of Luna that I never wanted to forget. But there’s this quote that says something like if you want to see what a person is afraid of losing see what they take photos of. I have 1000 photos and videos of Luna and I wish I had more I wish I took photos of her every single day and could do the little time lapse and watch her grow for her eight months. My birth chart or whatever. Feeling extra insane as I experience with medications that give me more side effects than my actual problems. #adhd #pmdd #pots by @macimcevoy

Some of my favorite moments are wrapped in chaos. Tiny giggles and a messy kitchen. A smiling face covered in yogurt. Curious kids coloring on the walls when we turn around for a split second. A lived in house is a loved one. by @macimcevoy
Sometimes I get so focused on the things I want to accomplish, that I forget what I already had. Luna’s book has been sold and shipped to homes all across America and a few other countries. It’s even sold in a couple local book stores like @redstickreads This book will always have such a special place in my heart 🌙🧸 by @macimcevoy
Rain + Popsicles = a great time 🌧️ by @macimcevoy
Feeling the reality that this is my daughter. She’s not a distant memory or the moon in the sky. She’s here on my mantel, her soul somewhere unknown. Feeling the weight of not knowing if I’ll see her again, or if so what that might look like. Her little hands hanging in my bathroom and clothing in my closet. The teddy bear her sisters play with and her items I cherish. Oh, Luna. Life will never be simple again will it? 🌛 #childhoodcancerawareness by @macimcevoy
