A potentially historic catch on the Jersey Shore — what may be the largest tiger shark ever documented from the beach in New Jersey.

Beyond its incredible size, this encounter could provide valuable insight into the changing seasonal distribution of large coastal sharks in the Northwest Atlantic. Bull sharks have been reported with increasing frequency along New Jersey beaches this season, and the presence of a large tiger shark this far north adds another important observation.
