Join us for the inaugral exhibition at Congress Yard Project's S. Wildman Signpost Project Space featuring new painting by Beth Wooten, curated by Bruce Conkle. Saturday Sept 19 3-5pm

Beth Wooten statement:
I paint color focused abstractions as a way to grasp at the precarity of these times. I'm interested in color theory and the history of color, but am also distracted by and contemplating the forces at work denying us the space, resources, and focus necessary for such reflections. I've maintained a sporadic yet long term practice from charleston sc to portland or. by @mackaback

Noah Beckham
Welcome Home Dimorph
August 9 - September 13, 2026

PPSTMM is jazzed to share its latest exhibition, Welcome Home Dimorph, from a Black Art Ecology of Portland (BAEP) Artist in Residence, Noah Beckham. Join us for collegiality and refreshments August 9th from 11:00am - 1:00pm for an opening reception.

With Welcome Home Dimorph Beckham’s gambit was to domesticate PPSTMM’s white cube vibe. In moving a custom made display shelf from their home to PPSTMM, Beckham initiates a feedback loop on their project of constructing an intentional exhibition area into their own domestic space. In Beckham’s home, the aesthetic of the shelf aids in the sacred atmosphere of the contemporary art viewing site. In bringing it to PPSTMM, it reads as both sculpture and support.

This switcheroo is only the foundation of Welcome Home Dimorph. Nestled around the gallery is a sculptural and digital installation that are building multiple worlds from 3D animations, whose architecture and landscapes reflect the narrativizing ontologies of past sensory experiences. In a Bachelardian move, each nook and cranny of the installation harbors emotions and the viewer's capacity to access them will rely on imagination and a metaphorical mindset.

BIO
Noah Beckham and Dimorph are sitting in a tree whispering about materiality, repetition, the relationship between object and human, the mundane and the extraordinary.

Gallery hours:
Aug 9, 11am - 1pm opening reception.
Aug 10, 4pm - 7pm
Aug 24, 4pm - 7pm
Sept 5, 10am - 2pm

Contact for appointments.

Noah Beckham’s exhibition concludes their A Black Art Ecology of Portland (BAEP) Artist in Residence experience, which began in February 2026.

Samara Andre @artheaux__
Everything I Am Has Already Happened
March 13 - May 3, 2026

PPSTMM is delighted to announce its latest exhibition, Everything I Am Has Already Happened from a Black Art Ecology of Portland (BAEP) Artist in Residence, Samara Andre. Join us for conversation and refreshments March 13th from 6:00pm - 8:00pm for an opening reception.

Portland-born multidisciplinary artist Samara Andre’s newest exhibition, Everything I Am Has Already Happened, invites viewers into a deeply personal exploration of Blackness and being. Through her vivid, expressive paintings, Andre reflects on resilient futures, the retracing of lineage to unknowable ancestors, and the intricacies of lived experience. These works not only engage with the unfolding history of a first-gen Haitian, they speak to the ongoing journey of an artist and cultural producer, through layers of personal symbology and visual storytelling.

Each of the works in the exhibition delves into the subtleties and contradictions of inherited history and future possibility, offering a layered vision of who the artist is within the epoch of our time. The paintings consider the complexity of our relationship with time and identity—how our daydreams and nightmares are intertwined in ways that cannot always be neatly understood.

Through this collection, Samara Andre offers a reflective space for dreaming. Rather than offering clarity or resolution, Andre’s paintings embrace the complexities inherent in every individual’s journey. In a world that often demands complete coherence, these works assert the freedom to be undefined, to resist the urge for comprehension, and to live within the richness of what is not fully revealed.

James (Jim/Jimmy/Papap) Alan McFarland passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 30, 2026, in the home where he was born on December 1,1944, to Archie and Sophie McFarland (both deceased), in Raccoon, Pennsylvania.

Jim was a 1962 graduate of Burgettstown High School where he was voted Best Dressed, an accolade that would follow him throughout his life. After graduation he joined the US Army where he served with the 25th Infantry Division at Schofield Barracks in Hawaii. While there he learned to golf, developed a love of reading and frequented the Royal Hawaiian Hotel on Sundays where he would have coffee and read the newspaper.

After his honorable discharge from the Army as a Private First Class (twice!), Jim became employed at the Climax Molybdenum Company where he worked until his retirement in 2011. He started as an hourly worker in the union and though he eventually took a salary job he kept positive feelings for the necessity of unions.

He was a longtime member of the Richard Vaux Lodge No. 454, Burgettstown where he was a Past Master and also of the Slovan Polish National Alliance. He also joked that he would join the Procrastinators Club one day. He was proud to have been invited to the Kraków Open Euchre tournament.

Jim loved the outdoors, would take walks every day, and also enjoyed fishing and camping. He was witty, intelligent, stubborn and had a strong sense of right and wrong and felt everyone deserved a fair chance. He passed those traits along to his children: Kelly Streit (spouse Barry) and Mack McFarland (partner Ariana Jacob). In addition, he is survived by his longtime partner Judy Kraeer, his grandchildren Zach and Piper Streit, sister Carole Scruppi, and nephew Ron Bondo. He is preceded in death by his sister Patti McFarland and niece Debbie Hoberek.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 5 at Slater Funeral Home in Burgettstown from 12pm-7pm. In lieu of flowers the family is asking for donations to be made to the Burgettstown Public Library. by @mackaback

PPSTMM is quite happy to announce an exhibition and performance from
Raul J. Mendez, opening Friday January 9th, 2026 from 6:00 - 8:00pm, with the performance starting around 7:00pm.

Raul J Mendez’s paintings have me asking questions like: Is that which “goes bump in the night” the lingering auditory memory of past heartbeats nestled within my collective subconscious ? Or is that conspiratorially hatched bogeyman the byproduct of mythmaking mind-control devised by charlatans and sages alike? The images do not shy away from plots and collective human behaviors, while at the same time are imbued with the plight of the individual in situ.

The handling of paint changes from work to work, allowing the emotional tone of each episode to guide its approach. Atmospheric washes and drips create fog filled communal spaces; crisp, flat color fields emphasize repetition and rhythm; dense layering and textured over painting introduce narrative chaos and unease. Across these shifting modes, the artist cultivates an unstable border between the familiar and the uncanny.

What emerges are worlds in which social interaction becomes conspiracy rituals, architecture becomes psychology, and every gathering holds the potential for revelation or rupture.

Accompanying this suite of paintings will be a screening Endnotes & Errata. This video will be presented with a live score from Hieronymous Ross, Mendez’s current musical project featuring Mendez and Brian Capati,  at the opening of the exhibition, Friday January 9 at 7:00pm. Mendez speaks of the video and music as footnotes to the paintings and his research over the last five years.
