“Shhhh”
Xavier Baxter ( @baxterxavi )

Oil on canvas
99 x 110 in
2026

In getting to work alongside Xavier during his stint at the bridgehampton residency co-hosted by myself and @mackartfoundation , we discussed his work, my work, and painting in general.

While thinking about the curation for REDLINE, two of racing’s elements I was most interested in were risk and commitment.

In our discussions, commitment was a frequent topic. Being committed, and even aggressive towards the canvas was clearly defined as a vector for better marks and moments.

Getting to see Xavier work, and taking some notes alongside him in the studio revealed the importances he places on risk and comment, acting intuitively and committing to ideas; marks, colors, and composition in a swift and decisive way. Needless to say this fit right in line with REDLINE’s curatorial premise.

It’s been a pleasure and a joy to work with such a talented guy and make such fast friends. A big thank you to @chrisjamisonmack for being a most fun and serious patron of the arts, and putting us together. Looking forward to more work alongside @mackartfoundation !

…..

In Xavier’s words:

“The summer in the Hamptons was such a fun experience getting to know and work alongside Joey, to spend time in a completely new studio and environment, and be part of something that is genuinely exciting. The show brought together so much energy and great people all pulling together in a special way. The opening was a special night, It’s really nice to see Joey creating something fresh and bringing new energy and life to the art scene there.

Doing a month-long residency gave me a chance to slow down, work differently, and find some new inspiration along the way. A really good change of pace, and a great summer to be part of!

Really looking forward to what’s to come!

Takeover @gustavhjelmgren

MALIN GABRIELLA NORDIN @malingabriella
Born 1988, Sweden

An artist I’ve been following for quite some time is Malin Gabriella Nordin.

I love the vibrant energy in her paintings. Colour vibrate across the surface, with forms that feel like flowers, plants, landscapes or something completely abstract.

There is a freedom and intuition in the way she works that I really connect with. Malin has spoken about trusting her hands and the flow of the painting, allowing a colour, a line or a single brushstroke to completely change where the work is going.

And her practice goes far beyond the canvas. She also works with drawing, collage, large-scale sculpture and public murals, always carrying that same colourful and organic visual language.

Recent projects include her large public mural Skisser at Sergels Torg in Stockholm, the solo exhibition Solace at @steinslandberliner, and Begynnelser at Carl Eldhs Ateljémuseum, where her paintings were shown alongside sculptural works.

Malin is currently a 2026 artist-in-residence at @mackartfoundation in New York.

She lives and works in Stockholm and is represented by @steinslandberliner

We are excited to welcome Andrew Moncrief to our residency.

Andrew is a Canadian painter based in Berlin. His work gives way to a dynamic practice in which fragments and shapes merge, and figure and abstraction slip between states of being. Andrew works with distortion, accident, and contradiction as generative forces, holding his figures in a space between formation and collapse.

We are looking forward to having Andrew as part of our Greenpoint residency and artist community.

It was such a pleasure having @jappyagoncillo out with us for the next chapter of the Mural Art Initiative in Brooklyn.

A Manila-born, NY-based artist known for his vibrant, dynamic style rooted in skateboarding, comics, and 90’s-2000’s subculture, Jappy brought exactly the energy and electricity we were looking for.

Painted at 50 N 5th in Brooklyn, the piece pulls in the spirit of Williamsburg at every turn, from the bridge, to the skyline, to the open spaces and parks. Jappy was the perfect match for this project, and we couldn’t be happier with how it turned out!

Opening tonight in Bridgehampton 6-9pm. “Redline” examines racing’s elements, seen and unseen, which are not defined by the car itself, but consist of aspects such as speed, motion, time, risk, and commitment. Some works are methodically paced, while others push a physical boundary.

This exhibit continues the Mack Art Foundation’s satellite Hamptons residency, co-hosted by Joey. During the residency, artist Xavier Baxter produced several large-scale works, collaborative paintings with Joey, and painted one-off versions of Joey’s latest “Cubic Chair” design. Many of these works will be on view.

It was an incredible experience having @crashone out in Greenpoint with us. A true legend of the graffiti and street art world, since the 1970s he’s transformed NYC streets with his vibrant colors and unmistakable style. Watching him bring a wall to life in our neighborhood was special.

This mural is the first to go up as part of the Greenpoint Mural Art Initiative, a new partnership between Mack Art Foundation and @lisaprojectnyc to bring large scale public art to the neighborhood. Our goal is to celebrate Greenpoint’s story, from its industrial waterfront roots to the creative community it’s become today. We plan to work with both local artists who know the neighborhood firsthand and world renowned artists like Crash. Together, they’ll bring color to the walls for everyone to enjoy.

More murals (and more artists) are coming soon! taken in Greenpoint, Brooklyn by @mackartfoundation

I am thrilled to announce I’ll be hosting a group show this Saturday at my new studio and gallery space in Bridgehampton.

“Redline” examines racing’s elements, seen and unseen, which are not defined by the car itself, but consist of aspects such as speed, motion, time, risk, and commitment. Some works are methodically paced, while others push a physical boundary.

Artists include Steve Miller, Xavier Baxter, Anders Lindseth, Lucas Scheuer, and Joey Farrell.

As much as it is my studio and place of work, it’s been my intention to find ways of activating the space, bringing in other artists and collaborators, and eventually growing it into something larger than me.

This is a wonderful first step in that direction, bringing together local and international artists alike. The space is coming to life with my studio (which will be open for visitors), the ground level garage featuring cars and art, and the lower-level gallery with this curated selection of works.

It wouldn’t be what it is shaping up to be without Christine Mack, and her @mackartfoundation . I had the pleasure of co-hosting a Hamptons extension of her existing residency program and getting to know and work alongside resident artist @baxterxavi . Apart from Xavier’s own work, we’ve made a number of large works together, as well as a series of one-off art chairs with my latest Cubic Chair design. It has been a blast.

Additionally, I’m working alongside Pier to continue my efforts with former co-founder and good friend, @spencerchandlee , as we continue crafting experiential events that bridge worlds; introducing artists, collectors, businesses, investors, and collaborators alike in an effort to cultivate dynamic communities and do good business.

The real kicker the collaboration with my dear friend and all-round legend, @carburetorpapi : a 1995 e36, hand-painted by yours truly. I’m ecstatic to finally show it at home in Bridgehampton, during the buzzy weekend of its auto culture that surrounds @thebridge.hamptons .

In addition to works and artists mentioned, I’ll be showing a new large corten steel work, as well as a selection of photographs.

We are excited to welcome Julius Nordvinter to our residency.

Born in Gothenburg, Sweden, Nordvinter started painting in 2021 and has become one of the most closely followed young painters in the Nordics. Nordvinter arrives in New York for the first time, after his Asia debut in a duo exhibition with Camilla Engström at Carl Kostyál, Hong Kong, and a solo presentation with Makasiini Contemporary in Helsinki.

We can’t wait to share his journey in our Greenpoint studio, and invite him to the community.

So much fun having Swedish artists Malin and Nina with us in the residency this summer. We are sad to see them leave, but luckily it won’t be for long- they’ll both be back in New York in just a few months for exhibitions at two Tribeca galleries!

Between painting in the studio, gallery openings, watching the World Cup together, and a couple of weekends in the Hamptons, it’s been such a great summer. It has also been exciting to see the response to their work from the New York art community.

Having Gena Milanese as a guest resident completed this talented trio of artists! Gena is participating in an exhibition at Room 57 Gallery next week.
