“i know everybody changes, but i hope that we don’t”

i know you’re only a two and a half hour drive away, but it’s going to be so hard not being able to see you whenever. you’ve always been someone who can effortlessly match my energy and make me laugh. i love singing and screaming with you, and getting to see you in the same hallways for the past 12 years has been such a blessing. i regret not appreciating it enough while we were living it.
i’ll miss senior year, walking around with my chromebook, vlogging in the hallways, and obnoxiously singing everywhere we went. from laughing until our cheeks hurt to fighting over the stupidest things like sisters, i’ll forever cherish our moments. somehow we find the same stupid filters funny and can turn literally anything into a joke. you’ve been the sunshine at school when i needed it most.
i’ll miss you walking through my front door, the late night conversations with my mom, and you running through my house because i was the closest bathroom. i’ll miss our late night ice cream runs, you paying for my food and sweet treats, and that one time we demolished a family sized domino’s meal by ourselves. i’ll miss talking about the most uncomfortable topics that would horrify the average person, but somehow a completely normal conversation to us.
i’ll miss you stealing my phone and mogging me when the sun hits your face. most of all, i’ll miss how i never feel like i have to put on a show around you. your lack of judgment makes it so easy to be completely myself.
you’re genuinely one of the biggest reasons i’ve peed myself laughing. your kindness, confidence, and ability to make friends anywhere inspires me. you’ve taught me that laughter is medicine, that it’s okay to be loud, and that i should never apologize for being myself.

i have no doubt you’ll find your people in college just as easily as you did here. i hope all your worries wash away because you’re an incredibly easy person to love, and your magnetic energy will always draw the right people towards you.

it’s not goodbye, it’s see you later. i love you lots, carol. go make so many memories, i can’t wait to hear every single one when you come home. 🤍 by @mackenziencheeese
