“Christmas Day will always be just as long as we have we.” 💚 (Who doesn’t love the Grinch?)

With a week and a half until Christmas, and less than two weeks until my birthday, I’ve been reflecting on one of the most memorable years of my life. Becoming a mom has been challenging, rewarding, and oh so heartwarming.

And thanks to mat leave, I’ve also gotten to read more books this year than in any other year. The rate at which I’ve restocked my TBR shelf has been alarming.

I return to work next year, but I’ll always be here, hopefully with even more books near! 📚

Oh no, I’m speaking in rhyme. 😅

I guess I could use a little social interaction. 😉

“Perhaps our darknesses can be friends.” 🩵

I am definitely friends with The Witch Collector. I saw this book recommended a few times, and was gifted it a little while back. I finished my holiday books early, and needed another wintry read. ❄️

I’m so glad I finally picked this up off my shelf.

The magic system. The gods. The intrigue. The high stakes. The forced proximity. The tough, mute FMC. The Aragorn coded MMC.

This is my first @charissaweaksauthor book, and I already can’t wait to read the rest of the ongoing Witch Walker series. ✨

Okay, the hype is real @authorbkborison 😍

I picked up First Time Caller a while back, and finally read it in November. I loved the Sleepless In Seattle inspired story. 🎧💕

And now we have Good Spirits, a Christmas Carol inspired story that I may love even more, and I’m only halfway through. 👻♥️

I mentioned in my previous post that I’m not much of a holiday romance girlie. But here I am, inhaling this book like the sweet treat it is. 🍬 (Also, how is there no candy cane emoji?!)

❤️💚 Holiday Romance 💚❤️

I’m not typically a contemporary romance girlie, but I can’t help myself when it comes to @lauriegilmore_author, apparently. 😂

I grabbed the beautiful hardcover deluxe edition of The Christmas Tree Farm as soon as I saw it, and waited (somewhat) patiently for December to arrive.

This story is cute, cozy, and Christmassy without feeling too cheesy. More and more, I yearn to live in a small town where everyone knows everyone.

I love getting to revisit Dream Harbor and seeing familiar characters. I also love that the character re-introductions feel natural and not like you’re reading the same descriptions over and over again. You get fresh perspectives, and it feels like coming home again.

So, I think I’ve changed my mind a little bit on contemporary romances. I’ve read so many enjoyable ones this year. My tastes are expanding, and joining the bookish community is directly responsible. Thank you all for your recommendations this year. I look forward to even more new books next year. 📚

I have just one more book on my December TBR. I scaled back on the list because it’s my son’s first Christmas, and I’m going back to work a month after. I want to spend as much time cuddling my little family before our routine changes.

For now, I’m reading these cozy Christmas love stories when I get a moment between decorating, planning, and soaking up all those baby cuddles. 🥰

I’m grateful that maternity leave has allowed me more time for reading this year, and I’m so glad I opened my heart to more genres.

The mountain has been climbed! 🏔️

I first picked up Nine Month Contract on a whim. I thought the sprayed edges were adorable, and having been a recently new mom at the time, I was intrigued by the pregnancy plot. Wyatt and Trista delivered the grumpy x sunshine.

Well, I ate that up like candy, and picked up Seven Year Itch as soon as I could. And when I tell you I gobbled this one up even faster…! Calder and Dakota’s enemies to lovers situation had me CRAWLING.

Then, after months of anticipation, Honeymoon Phase was released! I saved it for my first December read (but I started it early lol). This one was longer, but the payoff was precious. Luke and Addison made me the most emotional. I love a best friends to lovers story. It’s my own, after all!

I hadn’t heard of Amy Daws before starting this series, but I have become an instant fan. She has a whole catalogue of contemporary romances that I fear I must make room for on my shelves now. Maybe I need to embrace more audiobooks. 🎧

I went ahead and picked up Last On The List, as this story takes place earlier, and is about the eldest Fletcher brother Max, his daughter Everly, and nanny-turned-lover Cozy. Having met and loved these characters, I have to read their origin story!

All of these books can technically be read solo, but I’m a completionist. 😂

Which is great for me, because AS IT TURNS OUT, there’s a fourth and final Matchmaker book coming spring of 2026, focusing on the matchmaker herself, Everly Fletcher! 🍀

As the year starts to slow down, I’ve been embracing slowness too. Making soups and baby food. Cozying up with blankets and the fireplace channel. Watching Gilmore Girls. Letting my TBR get a little too backed up again so I can embrace this time with my baby before mat leave ends.

Thankfully, @lauriegilmore_author is delivering exactly what I need to get out of my reading slump. I’m so glad I finally grabbed The Cinnamon Bun Book Store!

Book Two of the Dream Harbor series is definitely serving the sweetness and the spice, and just like a cinnamon bun, I’m gobbling it up and yearning for more.

I’ve already picked up The Christmas Tree Farm and look forward to reading it for my December TBR!

Also OMG it’s almost December. 🫠

Moody atmosphere? Check.
Gorgeous special edition? CHECK. 😍🩵

Apparently there’s a hell of a slow burn romance too.

I’m only about 10% of my way through, but I’m loving the vibes so far. Can’t wait to eat this one up! 😉

BRIDE was my introduction to Ali Hazelwood, and I was immediately hooked. Somehow, MATE dug its claws even deeper. 🐺🐺🐺
