Jamie, darling, the novel that could be written...

But you’d hate that, so here’s the short version: Thank you for always indulging a lively debate, giving your full support in all capacities, and loving Dalton and I unconditionally. You were truly larger than this life.

We miss you beyond measure, and will continue to live in your legacy. We’ll work hard, love fiercely, and drink only the good wine.

The time we had on this earth together will never be enough and we look forward to being with you in the next chapter. All our love, forever, James Albert McDonald.🪽 by @macksinclairr

I’ve had a very exciting week, but one of the most exciting moments was sitting down with Mackenzie Sinclair (@macksinclairr) , Executive Director of the Art Dealers Association of Canada (ADAC - @adac_amac). A not-for-profit trade organization for commercial art galleries and art dealers in Canada, promoting visual arts and artists, the organization sets professional standards, supporting gallery businesses and collectors.

“A lot of people think of the world of art dealing as a strictly luxurious ecosystem. But the reality is they’re small businesses, entrepreneurs, that truly believe in the art and their artists,” Mackenzie shares, explaining her personal interest in her work. “The organization has grown since our launch in 1966, we do more public outreach with galleries, there are 64 ADAC members across the country.”

Mackenzie’s energy was contagious in describing the ADAC’s upcoming exhibit at the Bau-Xi Gallery | Dufferin (@bauxigallery), celebrating the ADAC’s 60th Anniversary. Member galleries submitted over 250 images for display and sale at this upcoming show, a combination of historical and contemporary works. From these submissions, a selected jury chose about 100 works, to be displayed situationally instead of chronologically. So much love and care has been poured into the curation of the show, which will be open to the public for 4 days.

Mackenzie describes three goals for the event: celebrating members, raising funds for the ADAC Foundation, and the public’s enjoyment of our country’s artistic trajectories.

When asked why art is important, Mackenzie answers “Art is central to our humanity, it grounds us. Profoundly important in showcasing moments in time. A language that transcends all cultures, anyone can understand a painting!”
