There is this comedy, As You Like It, from Shakespeare and I have to share it.

There is an older brother who attempts to have his younger brother killed.
The younger brother knows this and even saves the older brothers life from uncertain death.
The older brother was undeserving of the younger brothers goodness and compassion towards him.
When the older brother learns about this, he has what he calls a “conversion”.
Later, several women approached the older brother and asked, “was’t you that so oft contrive to kill (your brother)?”
The older brother replies to the women saying, “Twas I; but ’tis not I: I do not shame to tell you what I was, since my conversion so sweetly tastes, being the thing I am.”

I have thought so much on his answer, the womens question and how we can apply that to our personal lives today…

People may be accusatory just like the women in the story - aren’t you the one who has a tattoo? Aren’t you the one who had sex before marriage? Aren’t you the one who drinks? Smokes? Etc…

So depending on where you or me may be in our journey of discovering our divine nature and what our convictions are, his response, “‘twas I; but ‘tis not I” is everything!

Through the infinite power of the atonement; I have been able to say, “’Twas I; but ’tis not I: I do not shame to tell you what I was, since my conversion so sweetly tastes, being the thing I am.”
Repentance is a joy, NOT a burden.
I know that the atonement has brought power and true joy into my life, unlike anything ever before. I am forever grateful for our Saviors sacrifice and that we ALL have a chance to try again and again… and again…. and AGAIN!
