The full programme of Maison d’Artiste 2026, 17 to 19 September at the Metzgebouw. Free entry; four things are ticketed.

Thursday opens the house at 10:00 and closes with Opening Night, 18:00 to 21:00, all thirty makers present. In between: @ingebecka.artdesign on the sixth floor, @andreeapirlica on the hospital as care or cure, a MADART Table Talk with @eenvoudontwerp, @loutje_hoekstra and @sandrakejaplanken, and talks by @femm_amsterdam and @martijndenotter.

Friday runs on tours and material. @jkarijoredjo walks the whole building at 11:00 with @sannekaal and again at 15:15 with @jeroen.glas. In the dome, @samiaboulouh and @loutje_hoekstra hold a two-hour session of music and line drawing. @thomaseurlings on Rietveld and linoleum, @marc.th.vandervoorn on material as the deciding factor.

Saturday starts early: yoga under the glass at 10:00 with @arbenthefruit and sound by @devoonsounds, @hermadewit walking her own work up the staircases, the @before.noon.club from 11:00. Nicola Cherubini (@listonegiordanoamsterdam) speaks at 15:00, and the last tour of the festival ends in the dome.

Every day at 17:00, Devoonsounds plays half an hour written for the dome. The wine bar runs from 14:00, with @vinvinwines and @bonvivant.wine .

Rietveld’s dome, a stage for makers again.

Metz & Co occupied the Metz building on the Leidsestraat from 1890 to 2012. In 1933 Gerrit Rietveld designed a glass dome for its roof, commissioned by the department store. According to Arcam, Le Corbusier and Mies van der Rohe showed their furniture there for the first time in the Netherlands.

MADART is short for Maison d’Artiste, the artist’s house Theo van Doesburg and Cornelis van Eesteren designed in 1923 and never built.

Since 2024 the building has been home to NIO, its architecture restored by MVRDV. From 17 to 19 September, during GLUE Amsterdam, makers and brands stand under the dome again, for the first time since Metz & Co.

Five floors, one route: lunch on the first, talks on the second, Season 02 GROUND on the fourth, Maison d’Artiste on the sixth and seventh.

From ground, to house, to dome.

Five floors, one route through the Metzgebouw during GLUE Amsterdam. This is who you find where.

One — Lunch in the café: soup, three bruschetta and a drink, € 19.50, Thursday to Saturday.

Two — The Forum, talks every afternoon from 15:00 with @martijndenotter, Femke Hofhuis (@femm_amsterdam), Thomas Eurlings (@forboflooringnl), @marc.th.vandervoorn and Nicola Cherubini (@listonegiordano). @aoleupirlica shows a running presentation.

Four — Season 02 GROUND, the Foundation’s running exhibition: @annevanborselen , @aadkruiswijk & @rogier_bosschaart, @sandrakejaplanken, @echo.unified & @loutje_hoekstra, @arnohoogland, and @hermadewit in the stairwell. Open until 30 September.

Five — On the landing: Herma de Wit, in the stairwell.

Six — Maison d’Artiste, six rooms furnished by @ericsloot_, @nicolettedewaart, @mauricealbertjan, @ignoreamsterdam, @dotobjects.store , @stryd.furniture , @jimbobruijgrok , Joost de Munnik presented by SPoT, @lilialand , @buro_berger , @_natelier_ and @ingebecka.artdesign .

Seven — The dome: @devoonsounds shows sound sculptures of recycled Carrara marble under the glass Gerrit Rietveld raised in 1933.

Van ruwe plank tot afgewerkt meubel, en alles door één paar handen. Dat is het werk van Jim Ruijgrok.

Tijdens GLUE Amsterdam 2026 liepen we het NIO House binnen en gingen we naar de zesde verdieping. Daar, bij de MADART Foundation, vonden we Jim tussen zijn meubels.

Jim is meubelmaker en ontwerper in Eindhoven. Hij ontwerpt, maakt en werkt elk stuk zelf af. Geen massaproductie en geen keten waarin hij maar één schakel is, maar volledige betrokkenheid bij elke stap. Dat zie je terug: zijn werk is eerlijk, intens en persoonlijk.

💡Leuk feitje: het vak zit in de familie. Jims vader, meubelmaker Nob Ruijgrok, was jarenlang de compagnon van @piet_hein_eek. Jim zet de meubelcollectie van zijn vader nu voort, met nieuwe materialen en een eigen handschrift.

Daytime disco on @glue.amsterdam weekend at the @madartfoundation exhibition GROUND in the besutifully restored Metz building (no family!). The ground floor is now in use by @niohouse_amsterdam electric cars, with elegant 3D printed wall coverings by @aectual. Chic! by @madartfoundation

Wol die rafelt. Glas dat glanst. En ergens daartussen ontstaat iets nieuws.

Pauline van @buro_m15 bezocht Sandra vandaag tijdens GLUE en het is niet moeilijk te begrijpen waarom je daar blijft hangen.

Op het snijvlak van textiel en glas ontstaat een wereld die zacht én monumentaal tegelijk voelt. Wollen passementerie-tapijten die verlopen van geel naar oudroze en groen. Franjes die rafelen en bijna lijken te bewegen. Daartussen glazen sculpturen: melkwit, omwikkeld met vrolijk garen, gemaakt van restglas en gerecyclede draad.

Alsof de zee stil is gaan liggen in wol en glas.

Geen decoratie. Een taal.

Sandra zegt: “Nature is not represented, but experienced.” En precies dat voel je in haar werk. Het gaat niet alleen over hoe iets eruitziet, maar over wat het met je doet. Over gevoel, nog vóór woorden.

Het werk van Sandra Keja Planken is nog t/m 30 september te zien bij MADART Foundation in NIO House Amsterdam.
