A Week of Rivers... isn't that the dream holiday?

@madawaskakanu's Week of Rivers returns in 2027 with two opportunities to join the adventure: May 31 to June 4 and June 14 to 18. Guided by experienced river instructors, paddlers spend five days exploring iconic sections of the Madawaska, Petawawa, Ottawa, Rouge, Gatineau, and more, with all the logistics taken care of.

With the Bancroft screening of the International Paddling Film Festival quickly approaching, Hastings Trails wants to take the time to thank the local sponsors who are helping to make this event a reality. First up is Madawaska Kanu Centre (MKC), which has been welcoming people to the Madawaska River to learn, explore, challenge themselves, and connect with nature for over 50 years! At the heart of MKC is a simple mission: to provide meaningful outdoor experiences and education for everyone while building a more inclusive, supportive, and connected paddling community.

Have you paddled the Madawaska River?

Only a few hours from Ottawa and Toronto and you’ll find this magical spot. This river offers rapids for all paddlers with all kinds of options like a longer day run down the “Upper Mad”(more advanced), “Lower Mad”(less advanced) or to park-and-play along the many different rapids available. It is known as Ontarios whitewater learning grounds and just as you would expect there are some fantastic paddling schools to help you dial in your skills such as @paddlercooperative & @madawaskakanu

I think it’s obvious, but sometimes it’s easy to forget: MKC is nothing without the folks who make it happen. 💙🛶✨🌞

Behind every day on the river, every meal served, every clean room, every lesson, every laugh, and every happy paddler is a whole lot of hard work from an incredible team.

We work hard to get folks on the river, keep them well fed, make them feel at home, and hopefully send them away with a little more love for whitewater than they arrived with.
