When you have a gig on Don Gibson's birthday, you gotta throw in a Don Gibson song! 😉

Nearly half of our first date was spent discussing classic county music. I had listened to Cocaine & Rhinestones, he had read the biographies the show was sourced from. A few weeks later, he gifted me a vintage George Jones belt buckle, and not long after that, I gifted him a George Jones joke magnet for Valentine's Day.

It's a gift to know more about yourself as you age, and a gift to know more about others as well. Part of that is knowing when someone is for real. Time and time again, Brandon showed me that he was. That he legitimately cared about me - how I felt, what I was doing, my hobbies, my goals. And he's done that now for well over a year and hasn't let up.

He's an incredible person that I love being around, supporting, and rooting for. He has a fantastic sense of humor, cooks the best steaks I've ever had, and every time he smiles, I forget where I'm at for a minute.

He asked me to marry him on what would have been his parents' 48th wedding anniversary, using the engagement ring his grandfather proposed to his grandmother with. The words he used were so daggum good that I wish I could remember them all, but I'll always remember how they made me feel and how heartfelt he looked saying them. Two friends and the construction crew at the end of the block cheered for us when I said yes, and y'all already know we tore up some Thai food afterwards.

I'm thankful for Brandon more than I can put into words, and love him more than I know how to say. And I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy the new piece of jewelry too. After all, it matches that George Jones belt buckle pretty good 😉 taken in The Don Gibson Theatre by @madbridges

2025 practice and random gig videos that never made it to posts or stories:

1) mullet Blake Shelton

2) SZA cover I was trying to convince a friend to do and ended up really liking myself?! (idea stolen from kacey's deeper well tour)

3) Righteous Gemstones request on the fly from @thelaurenhou

4) Make You Feel My Love from the community Bob Dylan night

5) Annual Osborne Brothers cover with birthday boy Pat!

6) Travis daggum Tritt as filmed by @ab_whit

7) One of my favorite songs, learned from Lou Ann Slater who sadly passed in 2025 ❤️

8) New to me Martin getting put through very basic paces 🤣

9) Jerry Jeff

10) This one actually was posted but it's a Nanci Griffith fave so that merits reposting always by @madbridges
