A year ago, I took a chance and started building The Social Standard while still working a full-time corporate job…

Lots of early mornings before work.
Late nights after work.
Weekends spent creating, strategizing, helping brands grow, and ensuring I was still giving clients 100% 🥺💫📈

For the last five years, my corporate role taught me so much…Strategy, confidence, resilience, leadership skills, and lessons I’ll carry with me forever. I’m incredibly grateful for the experience and relationships I'm taking away from that chapter. ✨

But behind the scenes, something bigger was building.

This week I’m officially closing that chapter and turning a page into a new one…This one as a full time entrepreneur.

Helping brands grow, building strategies that actually move the needle, and doing work I’m genuinely passionate about.

The Social Standard now has 110% of me.

Well if ya didn’t know….now you know. 🪡🧠🧑‍⚕️ I have been MIA this week to undergo brain surgery at Stanford Medical. I’ve kept things pretty quiet, sharing mostly just with immediate family. because this was a HUGE decision for Aaron and I.

Back in 2017, I was diagnosed with a non cancerous brain tumor or rathkes cleft cyst which was found on an MRI ordered for my migraines, the cyst expands and contracts pushing on your pituitary wreaking havoc on everything from hormones to vision, mood, fatigue, and constant migraines.

I’ve seen more neurologists and neurosurgeons and endocrinologists, functional practitioners than I can count (yes even Hopkins and UMD) before finally deciding to just call up the best of the best to get his opinion… which led me to Dr. Juan Fernandez Miranda, the top surgeon nationally for transsphenoidal neurosurgery. When we spoke he was confident that I was a good candidate for surgery and it would reduce my migraine days.

Fast forward and Aaron and I are out in Cali. Surgery took about 6hrs on Thursday but went perfectly. He and the ENT surgeon were able to remove the cyst through my nose by drilling through some bone behind my sinuses (so no, my head isn’t cut open, and they didn’t shave my hair 😅). I do have a few small scalp incisions from the pins they drilled into my skull to keep my head still during surgery, and some stitches and stints in my nose but overall besides constant bloody noses, and loss of smell and taste (hopefully temporary) recovery has been smoother than expected from both my POV and the doctors.

I’ll be discharged today and resting at a little Airbnb nearby while I continue healing and attending post op visits with our team of doctors. To everyone who’s reached out…thank you for the love.
