before the backyard collective was the backyard collective it was me convincing my friends to let me host the party - New Year's, Super Bowl, their birthday, whatever it was (that part hasn't changed)

This particular occasion was @johnnaueltschi 1920s themed birthday in 2021

I framed prints of Vogue magazine covers from the time period and hung them over the fireplace. handpicked every piece of decor on the bookshelf and the walls. Turned the dining room into a casino (yes, I made that casino sign) and liquor crates from cardboard boxes. even convinced her to buy that red chair off Facebook marketplace for like $25.

No detail was left undone

So you tell me, what are we planning next? taken in Lake Eola Heights Historic District by @maddieplocklear

very few bits of a very special weekend.

we celebrated chris' birthday without him for the first time and i still can't believe it will be like that forever.

you were there though, weren't you?

the Airbnb had the same street name as the house we all grew up in. the house number was a number that's followed me around for a very long time and also happened to be the order number on my mcdonald's a couple nights before your birthday.

on the car ride home we laughed about how funny you always found it when my mom says "jeez o pete" and dani told me mcdonald's was a late night staple for you guys.

these weekends will never be the same but it feels like something good is being found in the grief ❤️‍🩹 taken in Indian Rocks Beach, Florida by @maddieplocklear
