Here are three things that I think contributed to me becoming fluent in German fast (these are also things I’m applying now to learning Greek).

I found to be a little bit of a misconception that Germans don’t like small talk- I had great chats on the local ‚Plauderbank‘ near my old apartment, about all sorts of topics- weather (the fav), life in Australia etc., why I moved to Berlin. Obviously there’s a time and a place, but I think increasing these sort of interactions really does increase your speaking confidence and helped me feel more integrated into life in Germany, especially in the beginning ☺️

Ad A day exploring the neighbourhood of Charlottenburg with @scandiccharlottenburg

Charlottenburg is one of the most elegant neighbourhoods in Berlin, with tree lined avenues, diverse architecture, and hosting one of the best culinary scenes along the Kantstraße in the entire city. @scandiccharlottenburg is a new hotel located right in the heart of the neighbourhood, and just a short walk away from some of my favourite spots.

3 SECOND HAND GEMS in Berlin ⭐ 🛍️ I love second hand shopping, especially finding pieces from natural fibres (wool, cotton, silk) which often cost less then new polyester pieces (!!!), last longer, and will actually keep you warm through the cold Berlin Winter 👀

(These places also stock polyester, but the focus is on natural materials and brands that are known for quality)

Let’s spend a Saturday morning cycling from Berlin to Potsdam! I’ve never done this route before but it was gorgeous, through Grünewald, Park Babelsberg 🌳 and landing in Potsdam for a slice of the famous cheesecake at Café Guam. plenty of energy for the 40km back… 🏰

There will be signs 👀 such as getting a full fridge of produce from here every week ❤️ I usually get a few things, but (understandably) it’s pricey, due to everything being organic and high quality. Organic fruits and vegetables, cheeses, honey, food stands (don’t skip the pizza which is just 5€ for two big pieces!), preserves and pickles and even clothing and jewellery! 🌱
