Grandpa-

Your selflessness, strength, and love guided our family and made us feel so supported and valued. I learned so much from you, your abundance of wisdom, and how you lived your life. I won’t ever understand why you were taken so soon, but am comforted by the fact that you will never stop looking over and protecting us. I am forever grateful for the time I got with you. If you know how much I love basketball, you know how difficult it is for me to say that my journey, as a player, has come to an end. Unfortunately, I recently retore my ACL , preventing me from playing this season. Many of you know that my college career has been full of knee surgeries and injuries that have tested me again and again, and I plan to conquer and embrace this challenge just as I did every other time.

I am forever grateful for every opportunity basketball has presented me with and for all of the amazing relationships I was able to build through it. Although this is not how I would have liked my time competing on the court to end…I’m not going anywhere! I look forward to pouring all of my support and energy into my amazing teammates and the Cal Poly program this year and plan to give back to the sport I love most in my future endeavors. by @maddievick_
