This was my third year attending this camp, and every year it has made me a better person. But this year changed my life. After one of the hardest years I’ve ever been through, I came to camp feeling like I had lost my smile. I left with it back because of the incredible people who surrounded me with love, encouragement, and belief when I needed it most.

This year, I had the honor of stepping into the Girls Director role after my sister couldn’t attend because of her hip reconstruction. I was warned it came with a lot of public speaking, my biggest fear. But because this camp believed in me, I stood in front of nearly 130 people and spoke about resilience. At that moment, I realized I was never standing alone.

Thank you to the staff, especially Gigs, for believing in me before I believed in myself. You helped me grow into a stronger leader and a stronger person. The friendships and relationships I built here are gifts I’ll carry forever. Three years ago, I was invited to this camp, and looking back, I truly don’t think I’d be the person I am today without it.

Thank you for changing my life, giving me my smile back, and reminding me what resilience, family, unconditional support and love really look like. I will be forever grateful. ❤️ by @maddy_porter_
