New York City is putting more money behind its creatives.

Mayor Zohran Mamdani and NYC’s Department of Cultural Affairs announced that city-funded grants for individual artists and small nonprofits are increasing from a previous maximum of $5,000 to up to $10,000 — the first increase in nearly 20 years.

The funding supports artists, collectives and small nonprofits across disciplines including music, film, dance, writing, visual arts and more.

Applications are already open in Brooklyn, Bronx, Manhattan and Queens, with Staten Island opening in November. NYC is also expanding access to free creative materials for grant recipients through Materials for the Arts.

For a city built heavily on its creative economy, this is a major shift.

And creatives: “up to $10K” does not mean everybody automatically receives $10K. Read the guidelines for your borough and APPLY.

Fergie Baby is proving that consistency is still one of the strongest strategies in music.

The Harlem rapper has been putting in work for nearly eight years, building a catalog of multiple projects while continuing to invest in his own music and visuals. Now that consistency is turning into bigger collaborations, stronger numbers and serious recognition across New York.

His “Good Day to Be in Harlem” visual with FERG is closing in on one million YouTube views, “Lenox Poppin” has passed 130,000, and “Many Men” pulled more than 50,000 views within its first two weeks. He has also worked with Harlem legend Cam’ron and currently has nearly 14,000 YouTube subscribers with over 180 videos on his channel.

Now Fergie Baby is back with another drop, “Double Nickel on 45,” continuing a rollout that refuses to slow down.

What really happened between Zoe Spencer & Tylil?

After a viral Hot 97 moment had fans believing Zoe Spencer was acting funny toward Tylil, Zoe shared her side of the story.
