Empowering the voice by Empowering the inner voice. What we say to ourselves and how we said it matters. IT MATTERS. As a singer, why? Because what you think and how you think of yourself influences the voice, it absolutely affects the voice. It’s not a matter of thinking positively and negatively per sé. This goes deep. Your environment, Past experiences whether they were negative or positive, influences how we sound. They can just be things we grew up with like good music or your family singing around the table and it absolutely shapes and informs your voice. Are you the youngest, middle, or oldest sibling? Those are some positives or neutrals just to name a few. Sometimes we don’t realize what we are carrying that may be hindering the voice from being set free. How you’re feeling presently too or what we may face in the future matters to your voice right… now. Studying the voice goes so deep. I love it. I always say to my students, when you study the voice, you find out who you are. This clip is from a #masterclass I taught with the Fox Theatre in St. Louis, @foxpacf 🙌🏾 Any chance I get, I will sneak a positive message in a vocal warm up that helps loosen artists up. A financial break. Whew! I feel it too BUT instead of artists putting yet another dollar on the line… I want to invest in Artists.I believe in work — to success ✅ and vocally, I’m not sure singers have enough spaces to work and explore so I’m in the process to building those affordable spaces. For now, I invite you to our Free Work Session. -FREE, No catch! 📝 Feel free to drop in during the time frame 11a-1pm to work through a song or audition cut with an accompanist. 🎯Make sure your audition cut makes sense or if you’re displaying exactly what you want from your song. 🎯 Get feedback from a vocal coach as well (optional) ➡️ First come first serve. We will start with one piece or cut just so we make sure we have time for as many people as possible. ➡️ You can choose to just sing through your song and get a repetition in doing so if you’d like. No feedback required. ➡️ Get real time feedback on how you are communicating with your accompanist and if there’s anything that’s holding you back. ⭐️ This time is for you! Wait…that’s me. 🥹 I hear you. I’ve felt that too. Because so many of us have been taught to measure our artistry by the moments we are chosen. Artistry doesn’t start and stop at contracts.That’s why I created THE SYMPOSIUM 🎓✏️— an educational gathering where artists come together, to share, discover, and grow. At the Symposium, performance is not the final product. It is the practice. Through live accompaniment, meaningful feedback, and community, artists are given the space to explore their craft beyond the audition room and beyond the boundaries of a contract. - In a Symposium, some artists will perform and some will observe. Unlike a Masterclass, artists will NOT be coached through their songs. They will simply perform. 🙌🏾Because artistry is not something we achieve. It is something we continue to cultivate. 🎭 Performance Registration: $50🤓 Observer Registration: $10Performers interested in sharing their work will submit a performance request with a $10 submission fee. Submission does not guarantee a performance slot. Each Symposium will feature a limited number of performers in order to create a focused, intentional learning environment. 📝 Please Note: Performance selections are not based on level of talent, experience, or achievement. The goal of The Symposium is growth — not evaluation. Black Owned ✅ Happy Juneteenth! I’m going to take my time with this one. > This is the intro to our most recent class that happened June 15th: “Own Your Voice: Confidence Boost using Pop/Rock Genre audition techniques.” This class is normally a very mixed crowd but this day, I got to speak directly to our community, it just so happened. I got to be very specific and I’m just so proud to do so. I want to help break the barriers in our community as performers and help develop the mindset of a LIMITLESS PERFORMER. 💪🏾We are able.
