Memories, even your most precious ones, fade surprisingly quickly. But I don’t go along with that. The memories I value most, I don’t ever see them fading.
Over the last 18 months. as we grappled with the idea of selling our beloved Made A Tea, we undertook ‘couples coaching’ (in the business sense) to uncover our essence. Sitting at the foundation of our journey was a deep-dive into our guiding principles https://madeatea.com/guiding-principles and at times it was tough … actually brutal! But we emerged with a stronger sense of what our drivers are. Over the next few weeks we’ll be sharing some of those with you and it’s our hope that you too will feel compelled to undertake an audit of where your passions live – what drives you in those moments when you could so easily give in.

And in a few months, we’ll be revealing just where our realisations have taken us… Hint! Hint! Made A Tea has something brewing!

Our sense of smell is said to be the most powerful of our senses and the slightest hint of something familiar can trigger a long-forgotten memory or special moment in our lives that we treasure forever. Why? Because there is a scientifically proven link in our brains between memory and smell!

Today the new batch of mint that arrived reminded me of early mornings in Jamaica, drinking cups of 'bush tea', using leaves picked on my great aunts land. The traditional enamel cups providing extra authenticity...

And we’re not ashamed!

When we set out to create Made A Tea back in 2015, it was meant to be a business, yes, but we were under no illusions that it was something of a vanity project. Herbs had changed our lives enabling us to move as far away as possible from Big Pharma, with the pills and potions that had had us both stuck in an endless revolving door of hospital appointments and admissions! We knew that our herbs had worked for the scores of volunteers who were involved in testing our blends before bringing them to market but still we were not certain that we had hit onto something that the world would want. We were wrong…

Not only did we get a whole bunch of incredibly loyal customers but we also built a small team of truly fabulous agents! And then, a competitor came knocking…

Out of the blue we were made an offer – not a life-changing one but a truly decent one! We didn't quite rub our hands but our interest was piqued. The idea of a financial lump sum was ATTRACTIVE – well at least to begin. After a good few months of negotiations, we walked away from the deal because the vision did not accord with our values. And then, like buses, another offer came along a few months later. This time we were a little more seasoned and negotiations stalled within a matter of weeks.

What these near misses have taught us, is that we are still very much in love with Made A Tea!!! That it isn’t a vanity project, but rather it’s a legacy!
