I had a moment the other day, where I realized, one little slip with this clay, and this piece could be gone forever. Or at any point in the process. Something could happen with my hands, or inside the kiln. So it’s best not to get attached to what you create until it’s fully done. I have issues with taking photos of the process. Always intending to share the finished outcome. I think it’s my toxic relationship with perfectionism, or maybe a measured mentality on my performance. It’s the same with my food. I just don’t take pictures. Nothing I make is really mine until it’s done, and even then it’s whoever’s enjoying it. I guess this is a long winded way of saying I’m finally enjoying the process after all these years. A group photo is forced; a photo depicting the chaos of the moment is a schema unending. Being obsessed with the outcome is self flagellating, and I find it often interrupts the process if you think about it during the course of your work. Little portrait I did for @gingerslunt . First time working with color digitally and applying what knowledge I have in color & oil painting. Zero blending here besides the blush on her face, Zero blacks or true whites besides the eyes and Papa Chiyo. Using this style, I noticed the more details I added the less soft her face looked and almost started to look harsh. Finding the balance between the two and being super decisive about values made this project a lengthy one, 6+ hours. Not really sure what this art style would be called, it’s almost borderline colored-noir. Would this be considered a high contrast portrait?

The algorithm keeps me silent but this band is noisy… Meet Dysthymia, my character Iku’s band. ✮⋆˙ Their sound is G.B.H. meets Front 242. This project was incredibly fun. I love looking at concert photos, emulating the flirty nature of the performer. This piece’s style ended up becoming noir, I’ve been getting the hang of digital but nonetheless takes me a lot of time. I would say this took me 35+ hours. I’ve added some inspiration pictures, my photo gallery is constantly littered with screenshots of style inspiration so it was easy to go back and cherry pick fur, leather, rivets, studs, and overall icons ( looking at you @millouxsuicide ). I’m so excited to post this, so I hope you all get a kick out of the little details. If you got this far: the bassist, guitarist and drummer all need names. What should they be? ദ്ദി(˵ •̀ ᴗ - ˵ ) ✧
