What a privilege to be tired from work you once begged the Universe for.
What a privilege to feel overwhelmed by growth you used to dream about.
What a privilege to be challenged by a life you created on purpose.
What a privilege to have a busy schedule.
What a privilege to have people who depend on you. by @madebyianross

Another lap around the sun and we have the scars and wounds as proof. I want to give a big shout out to everyone who took the time to reach out to me on my birthday but more importantly I want to thank myself! The last year of my twenties was probably one of the hardest years of my life. I was not where I thought I would be going into my 30’s and found myself starting over from scratch. I thought being this far into adulthood I should have this thing called life figured out by now. I’ve been at this point a few times in my life and the only thing I know how to do is bet on myself. When the chips are down bet what you have left on yourself. Don’t surround yourself with people who will give you a handout when you’re down but who constantly remind you who the hell you are, at your core! Little did I know the first year in my 30’s would be my best year yet and my second year in my 30’s would be even better. Every year that goes by I don’t know if I understand life any more but what I do know is you can keep getting knocked down to level zero and after you dust yourself off you can start climbing back up. I find supreme comfort in knowing I have no clue what the future holds but I know I will make it through. Maybe that’s the meaning of life…just a perpetual cycle of building to then start over and rebuild but you can always rebuild. Thank you to the day 1’s. Thank you to myself. Thank you to everyone who helped make this last year so enjoyable. by @madebyianross

Would it be a gift or a curse to access your memories like recorded videos??!

Sonder: The profound feeling of realizing that everyone, including strangers passing in the street, have a life as complex as one's own.

You ever just wake up one day and everything seems different? Your relationships don’t seem the way you remembered? Then you realize everyone has their own life and are constantly changing. The next time we see each other we won’t be the same two people, your best friend is now an altered version of your best friend. Things will never be the same.

You ever question your own memories? Like when your friend is telling a story and you’re thinking “that’s not how it happened at all”, or when you realize a sibling has a completely different emotional connection to events you both experienced as children. Who’s memory is correct mine or theirs? Eye witness testimony doesn’t even hold up in court much anymore because we realize how easily memories can be manipulated, altered or even falsely implanted. Perception really is everything. The eyes are very similar to a camera lens. A photo is not displaying real life but rather an interpretation of real life comprised of pixels. Nature has millions of colors and values that a camera just can’t comprehend and it condenses them down to a handful that it can replicate. The photo may be underexposed causing it to be darker or out of focus taking away a sense of clarity. Every time we look at a photo we are looking at a representation of a real life event, same as when we dig up an old memory. A real life event passes through my lenses and then my brain interprets that into a memory. This memory may be clouded by the bad day I just had, out of focus due to the amount of alcohol I consumed and patched together from 5 stories from friends to fill in the blank parts. Maybe a memory of a situation is the best my 8 year old brain could understand at the time. Memories are not truth but simply the stories we tell ourselves about events that took place in our lives. It’s weird once you realize that no two people have the same memory even of your most happiest times….
