Just some snapshots of my dream job the past few years. I love it. The kids are perfect. I can’t tell you how much they have taught me, inspired me, and showed me how to live life authentically. Oh Hero.
Just like the super kind.
With perfect bent ears,
A neck made to catch tears,
And whiskers of white round your smile.
My Hero.
Your distain for baths,
Your teeth, begs, and sass,
Brought the gift of great laughs
Through all of your years.
Hero.
How I loved the sweet gifts
You brought me each day.
My shoes, bear, and kitty,
Or my clothes in a hurry.
Hero.
A name you did not earn at the vet,
But through my eyes and heart.
The world is darker, dimmer so
With you not here at sunset.
My Hero
Your faded brown spots,
And small freckled dots,
on their white canvas now lie still.
Oh Hero.
A four letter name,
For my four-legged friend,
Who was true, kind, and loyal
Until the very end.

Oh I loved him enough to try any food. I loved him enough to hand feed him when he needed it. I loved him enough to carry him where he needed to go. I loved him enough to clean his little bum and remember every med time. I loved him enough to let him go. 💔

After a full day of doing all his favorite things, Hero passed away peacefully in my arms, on his favorite blanket, hearing a song he’s heard all his life. “I love you Hero, oh yes I do. I love you Hero, and will be true. When you’re not with me I’m blue, oh Hero I love you. Oh Hero I love you” And I will forever. My soul dog.

I’ll miss you my Hero, best pal, honey bunn, stinka butt, little mister, stinky, herohito la, sunshine boy, my sweet baby boy. More than you’ll ever know. I love you bigger than the moon and back. Go find a snowy mountain up there, and I’ll meet you on the trail baby. 🏔️

Gah I just love him so much it hurts! He’s literally perfect in every way! From his folded ears to his fuzzy tail! Grateful I was able to capture some sweet memories with my best friend! I got my grown-up Christmas wish. Hero and I got another Christmas at home and it has been magical so far. He got to play in the snow and eat plenty of mouthfuls of it. He had the stomach to eat some treats from Santa paws and his weight in pizzelles. He took some serious naps on the couch and has been soaking up all the love.

He was my Christmas puppy 10 years ago. The greatest gift I ever got. One I asked for, for every birthday and Christmas as long as I can remember. I am so happy to have been given another one with him. 10 wonderful christmases and gotcha days under our belts, but I’ll cherish this one forever. 🎄🎁❄️💕 taken in Brandon, South Dakota by @madeline_dew
