We celebrated my girl's 10th birthday yesterday. It genuinely feels like she was born just yesterday, and here she is now, ten years old, taller, wiser and so much more herself with each passing year.

Watching her grow has been the most beautiful, humbling journey. From the tiny bundle she once was to the big girl she is today, full of opinions, laughter and her own little world, every year with her feels like a gift. May she keep growing with the same joy, curiosity and warmth that she fills our lives with. Here's to many more years of watching her become who she's meant to be.

For the day, we twinned in light blue. I draped a sky blue Dhakai Jamdani scattered with shiuli flower butas all over the body, a soft nod to the season and to celebration itself.

I have a soft corner for sarees in pastel shades and whites, and this one was no exception. A stunning vaira oosi silk Kanjivaram, with a white base and ultra-thin gold zari pinstripes running parallel across the body. You can barely spot them against the white, which is exactly what gives vaira oosi its quiet magic. Bluish-purple zari borders and a gorgeous zari pallu complete the look.

Unique, elegant, and utterly gorgeous all at once. Draped this beauty for a close family friend's wedding reception.

This triple muniya Paithani caught my eye because of its unusual dark teal shade, borderless triple muniya strands, chequered body in silver zari and a gorgeous palla with flower motifs. Unique, understated yet so amazing in its own right.🥰❤️

Pink is undoubtedly a favourite colour. So when I set eyes on this beautiful piece of art, a Sambalpuri natural dyed ikkat in mulberry silk, I knew this had to be mine.

This is a traditional handloom tie-and-dye textile from Odisha crafted using organic plant and mineral-based colors instead of synthetic chemicals.Artisans tightly bind sections of cotton or silk yarn with resist materials before dyeing. This ensures the geometric patterns are embedded directly into the threads. Yet another time consuming piece of art!

This one is dyed using madder (manjishtha) and features cultural symbols such as shankha (conch), chakra (wheel), flowers throughout the body and the palla.

This saree has my heart. 🥰❤️...In my favourite colour of onion pink, this saree is adorned with the most exquisite soof embroidery work on Kala cotton. ❤️ Sourced from @indigoeth

For the unversed, Soof embroidery is a sophisticated, counted-thread hand embroidery style from Kutch, Gujarat, famous for its sharp geometric patterns stitched entirely from the reverse side of the fabric without any pre-drawn sketches. It is hence rare and a time consuming piece of art.

The word "Soof" comes from saaf, which means "neat and clean," describing the flawless front side of the finished cloth. (In the second picture, I have zoomed in on the neat, exquisite embroidery work on the palla)

Another of my favourites from the North East, a beautiful silk Moirangphee. 🥰❤️. I already had a few cotton ones but nothing caught my eye among the silks until I came across this one from @manipurihandloom on their Insta page.
It was love at first sight, a mulberry silk in a lovely shade of light teal, with a hot pink selvedge and traditional motifs on the palla.
Moirangphee silk sarees are traditional handwoven masterpieces from Manipur, famous for its distinct temple-tooth border (Pheejin) that points into the body of the fabric

For the past 2 years or so, I have been regularly posting in a few Saree groups. I thought, I will share some special sarees I posted in these groups. Posting few here, more in the next few posts. Also a few lines each on these beautiful pieces of handloom sarees..

1st- Sandur Lambani work done on the palla, borders on a silk cotton ilkal. @contact.bunon

2nd - A Dusphulia Sambalpuri 40 count cotton from @indigoeth . A Dasphulia Sambalpuri saree is a premium handloom masterpiece from Odisha featuring a signature border composed of ten precisely woven, disciplined rows of traditional motifs.

3rd - A handspun eri silk in natural dyes from @houseofnoorieofficial . For those who don't know, Eri silk is a sustainable, cruelty-free textile known as "peace silk" or "ahimsa silk" because it is harvested after the silkmoth naturally emerges from its open-ended cocoon.

4th - Mata ni Pachedi on tussar from @contact.bunon tact.bunon . Created by the nomadic Vaghari community, who painted cloth panels featuring the Mother Goddess to serve as portable shrines and backdrops for worship

5th - A rather unique Gadwal in copper zari borders and lovely motifs from @joyee.kolkata

6th - Natural dyed Assam Cotton by the most talented @naturally_anuradha by @madhurimac

I have been meaning to start this for a long time. I am finally going to document the sarees I wear, with a few lines about each of them.
I love wearing handloom sarees, made by artisans whose skill deserves to be seen and worn. It's a newfound love, one I discovered only in the last couple of years, and it keeps growing. I have been collecting sarees from different states, each carrying its own weave, colour sense and story. This series is my way of sharing some of my favourite, most special ones.
Let me begin with this Ashavali saree in mehendi green.
It is entirely naturally dyed, right down to the motifs on the palla, body and butas. That unusual colour is what drew me in. Understated, yet so exquisite. Beautifully crafted by @royal.brocades
Ashavali sarees date back to 15th century Ahmedabad, once known as Ashaval, and were traditionally worn by royalty. They were known for bright silk, gold and silver threads, and embossed patterns created on a twill weave. Today, artisan families and designers are reviving the intricate embossed meenakari motifs so this art doesn't fade away.
