Al Jum'ah Mosque ( مَسْجِد ٱلْجُمُعَة‎, romanized: Masjid Al-Jumuʿah, "Mosque of the Friday") is a mosque in Medina, in the Hejazi region of Saudi Arabia.[1] Also known as Masjid Banī Sālim (مَسْجِد بَنِي سَالِم),[2] Masjid Al-Wādī (مَسْجِد ٱلْوَادِي), Masjid Al-Qubayb (مَسْجِد ٱلْقُبَيْب), and Masjid ʿĀtikah (مَسْجِد عَاتِكَة), it is said by the locals to be where the Islamic prophet Muhammad and his companions performed Salatul-Jumu'ah for the first time, during their hijrah (migration) from Mecca to Medina.

Location
It is located near Wadi Ranuna', 900 metres (3,000 feet) north of Quba Mosque, and 6 km (3.7 mi) south of Al-Masjid an-Nabawi.

History
During the Hijrah from Mecca to Medina, on Monday the 12th of Rabi' al-Awwal, Year 1 of the Hijri calendar, Muhammad and other Muhajirun (emigrants from Mecca to Medina) stopped by Quba for four days. On the morning of Friday, they resumed the route to Medina, stopped in the region of Wadi Ranuna', and fulfilled the prayer of Jumu'ah prayer. Write a caption... Sayed Al-Shuhada Musjid, a vital historic landmark in Madinah. The mosque faces Mount Rumat, a small hill located to the west of Mount Uhud. The Uhud Martyr’s Square, along with the landmarks it contains, can be seen from the top of the hill
The Sayed Al-Shuhada Mosque is an important site in Islamic history as it tells the story of the Battle of Uhud, which took place during the third Hijri year.

It is also located next to the cemetery of 70 martyrs of Prophet Muhammad’s companions, about three kilometers away from the northern square of the Prophet’s Mosque.

The mosque was completed in April of 2017 and features a unique architectural style. It covers an area of 54,000 square meters and can accommodate up to 15,000 worshippers. Supporting services and facilities can be found outside the site. The mosque faces Mount Rumat, a small hill located to the west of Mount Uhud. The Uhud Martyr’s Square, along with the landmarks it contains, can be seen from the top of the hill.

Historical sources say that the army of the Quraysh tribe and its allies went to Madinah to kill Muslims and avenge those who died in the Battle of Badr, which took place in the second Hijri year.

Muslims confronted them, with the Prophet Muhammad deploying archers on Mount Rumat. He ordered the archers to stay in their posts unless told to move.

When the attackers began to flee, the archers thought the battle was over and that they had won. They came down the mountain, disregarding the Prophet Muhammad’s order. The commander of the attackers, Khalid bin Al-Walid, who had not yet converted to Islam, surprised the descending archers, killed them, then attacked the other Muslims.

Seventy of the Prophet’s companions were killed, including his uncle Hamzah bin Abdul-Muttalib. They were buried at the battle site at the base of Mount Rumat.

Muslims visit their graves to this day, as the Prophet Muhammad once did. Worshippers also ascend the mountain to observe the site of the battle. taken in Shuhada Uhud by @madinah_explorer

Al-Madinah Al-Munawarah is the second holy city to Muslims after Makkah Al-Mukkaramah. It has also got many other names such as Taibah, Yathrib, the City of the Messenger, and Dar Al-Hijri (i.e. Home of Immigration). It is the city whose people supported Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him) when he immigrated to it from Makkah. It comprises the Mosque of the Prophet, his grave, the Islamic University, King Fahd Complex for the Printing of the Holy Quran and many archaeological Islamic features. The first mosque of Islam is also located in Madinah and is known as Masjid Al Quba.

Madinah (Almadina Al-Munawara) the light city is the city of the Prophet Muhammad (saw) and also his burial place. It was the first Islamic City to support the Prophet Muhammad, and it joined him in fighting decisive battles which were instrumental in the victory of Islam and its subsequent spread. This is the city of the "Ansaar" (Supporters) and their brothers the "Muhajireen" (Emigrants), who together formed the first Islamic army which entered Makkah in triumph eight years after the Prophet's "Hijrah" (Migration). It was a city which loved the Prophet, and which he in turn loved. On its soil he built his sacred mosque, and it was here that he was buried. #madinah #ksa #saudiarabia #muslim #islamic #prophetmuhammad taken in Medina, Saudi Arabia by @madinah_explorer

Mount Uhud
“Once Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) said: “This is Uhud, the mountain which loves us and which we love”. The Prophet (ﷺ) once climbed the mountain of Uhud with Abu Bakr, `Umar and `Uthman. The mountain shook with them. The Prophet (ﷺ) said (to the mountain), "Be firm, O Uhud! For on you there are no more than a Prophet, a Siddiq and two martyrs. Rasulullah (ﷺ) said regarding Mount Uhud, “This mountain loves us and we love it – it stands at one of the gates of paradise.
There are three different stories that could explain how this mountain received its name. Firstly, Uhud means “The One” in Arabic in reference to the oneness of God Almighty. Secondly, the name could have been given as a testament to its uniqueness from other mountains. Finally, the location could have been named after a giant man called Uhud, who is said to have lived in the mountain. In the pre-Islamic period, the mountain was called Anqad.
Mount Uhud holds is the site of the second major battle in the Islamic history, which took place between pagans and Muslims. Mount Uhud is an excellent place for hiking. Given the geology of the place, the mountain has rocky terrain that provides several challenging hiking trails. Try the easy trail which should take around 3 hours to the top and back. Make sure you take some water and good shoes.
Mount Uhud is at a distance of 13 km from the Madinah city center. Further, it is 10 km north of Masjid An Nabawi. Use the Madinah bud from Musjid Nabawi at a cost of around 3.5 SAR to get here.
Some of the notable restaurants in the area are Municipal Bukhari Restaurant, ZamZam Kerala, Indian, Chinese, Arabic family Restaurant, Barger Restaurant, and Green Ribbon Restaurant. Try out the traditional Arabic lentics and foul (beans) with tamis (bread) taken in Mount Uhud by @madinah_explorer
