Leaving my home and family behind 5 years ago was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done, but I’m so grateful I took that leap of faith to follow my dreams. I’ve found so much beauty along the way and I’ll forever be grateful I decided to carve my own path. The people and things that matter most in life will always be with you, no matter how many state lines you cross 💛

Fall has always felt like magic to me, the season when the whole world becomes a living painting. There’s something so surreal about those quiet in-between moments as the light transforms ordinary scenes into these colorful masterpieces. I don’t think I’ll ever get over chasing that beautiful autumnal light and those vibrant colors 🍂 Fall truly is a photographer’s paradise taken in Lake Placid, Adirondack Mountains by @madipinkard

This is just some words coming from a human with a very heavy heart after all the violence and loss we’ve witnessed in the last few days. I debated posting anything but this needs to be said. Silence isn’t the answer.

This is a reminder of the light we all carry, even in heavy times. When the world feels dark, let’s choose to be a source of kindness, compassion, and hope. Hug your people tighter. Show kindness to a stranger. Breathe and remember. Remember why we fight for what we believe in. Let it inspire unity, not division. Love those who have different views than your own. Life is too precious to live in anger. Feel it—but don’t let it consume you. We rise only when we are capable of lifting each other up. by @madipinkard

A little throwback to my first trip up to Artist Point. I was worried the full moon was going to make it impossible to see the northern lights but got surprised with quite the show that lasted through most of the night. One of my favorite nights out under the lights and stars 🩵 ✨ taken in Artist Point, Washington by @madipinkard

Living in Washington means learning to wait for magic. Sometimes it’s in the fog, sometimes on the trail—and sometimes, if the clouds feel generous, it throws a full-on laser show over Mount Rainier 🌌

I saw the Northern Lights for the first time a couple weeks after moving here in this exact spot, and I’ve been sleep-deprived and slightlyyy obsessed ever since.

I’ve stayed up all night for false alarms, driven into the middle of nowhere, hiked solo to the top of mountains, and spent countless hours learning to read and understand the data that helps predict and detect these solar events. Most nights? Nothing. But the few that do deliver? Pure magic. ✨

So yeah, I may be running on coffee and blind hope some nights—but every time I am lucky enough to catch those lights dancing above, I’m reminded that the chase is always worth it. taken in Mount Rainier National Park by @madipinkard

A little throwback to my first solo backpacking trip last July. I’ve always pushed myself to go out and see the world on my own but this trip was very intimating for me. I’ve never liked hiking alone in the dark so camping alone overnight was a huge fear that I wanted to overcome.

It was the middle of the week and there was a chance of seeing the aurora so I decided to hike up to this spot by myself and set up a hammock to spend the night under the stars. Not only did I get to see the aurora peak out behind Mount Rainier but I also got this spot to myself for the whole night and was able to sleep under the stars of the Milky Way and wake up to these incredible views for sunrise.

Lesson learned: Take the risk and do it alone. We only have one life and I’m not going to waste a second of it living in fear. You’re capable of far more than you realize and you CAN do it on your own ✨💕 taken in Mount Rainier National Park by @madipinkard
