Rev. Erica Liu (Most Influential Asian American Leaders, 2026) is the executive director and pastor of Pres House, a Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) campus ministry serving students at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. She has served Pres House since 2004 and stepped into the executive director role in 2024. A second-generation Taiwanese American who grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area, she is an ordained Presbyterian minister. When Liu arrived in Madison, Pres House was largely dormant; under her leadership it has grown into an active campus center that reaches hundreds of students a year, expanding to include not only worship and pastoral care but also the Pres House Apartments, a community-focused student housing development, and Candid, a holistic wellness initiative. Over that period the organization’s annual budget grew from roughly $160,000 to more than $2.2 million. Beyond Pres House, Liu has been active in campus and denominational life, serving as president of the University Religious Workers of UW–Madison and on the board of trustees of McCormick Theological Seminary, and she has taught and led at national conferences on collegiate ministry, multicultural ministry, and Asian American young adult formation. She holds a bachelor’s degree in mass communications from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Master of Divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary. A longtime taekwondo practitioner, she earned her third-degree black belt in 2025. by @madison.365

“A leader can eventually believe everything is going well simply because people have stopped telling them what isn’t.”

In his latest “The Selfless Way” column, Henry Sanders, publisher and CEO of Madison365, writes that culture is shaped by the conversations leaders don’t hear, and by whether employees believe the real conversation can happen in the room.

AI is already changing how organizations hire, work, and decide, and the leaders who benefit most will be the ones who think past the next tool release. At the 365 Leadership Summit on Monday, October 19 (less than two weeks away!), we’ll have a panel conversation that brings together leaders from technology, higher education, and the regional business community to talk honestly about what adoption actually looks like, where jobs and workflows are really changing, how to bring a team along, and how to make sure the benefits reach the communities too often left out of technology gains.

Vertikals AI cofounder Steve Alston will lead the panel, which will include:

Sreenath Pillai, Software Engineer & Founder, Vertikals and ChainCatalyst
Dr. Sabrina Robins, Executive Vice President of Workforce Solutions and Innovation, Abaxent
Dr. Manohar Singh, Chancellor, UW–Oshkosh
Zach Brandon, President, Greater Madison Chamber of Commerce

PLUS! The Vertikals crew will also hold a masterclass in how to use AI tools in your business!

Some of the most durable institutions begin because somebody stopped waiting to be invited. At the 365 Leadership Summit on Monday, October 19, one of the sessions will bring together entrepreneurs and founders who built businesses without the traditional advantages of capital, networks, pedigree, or an obvious path in. They’ll talk candidly about getting the first customer, surviving the years nobody celebrates, accessing capital, making payroll, building a team, and turning an idea into an institution that can exist beyond its founder.

Alex Ysquierdo, Director of the Wisconsin Supplier Diversity Program, will lead the discussion. Panelists include:

- Griselda Aldrete, Founder & CEO, Star Sports Consulting; Founder, Aldrete Law and Consulting Firm
- Will Green, Founder & CEO, Mentoring Positives, Inc.
- Josh Kosnick, Founder, Kairos Coaching
- Victoria Thayer, Founder & Owner, Novii CPA

This is just one of more than 20 panel discussions and master classes to help you grow as a professional, a leader and a community member. Registration is open now at 365LeadershipSummit.com. by @madison.365

Heal the Hood MKE Founder Ajamou Butler will lead a session on the faith and spiritual grounding that has long sustained leaders through injustice and exhaustion at the 365 Leadership Summit on Monday, October 19.

Holy Imagination explores how belief, race, and radical grace meet in the work of leading: the imagination to envision a more just future, the honesty to name what race costs, and the grace, extended to others and to oneself, that keeps a leader whole. Part reflection and part conversation, it makes room for the spiritual dimension of endurance that most leadership gatherings leave out.

Panelists include:

- Monis Khan, Ozaukee County Board Supervisor & member of the Wisconsin Democratic Party’s Muslim Caucus
- Rev. Erica Liu, Executive Director & Pastor, Pres House
- Rev. David Hart, Pastor, Sherman Church
- Rev. Dr. Marcus Allen, Senior Pastor, Mt. Zion Baptist Church
