March is Endometriosis Awareness Month 🎗️
This is a more vulnerable post for me. Endometriosis is more than “bad cramps.” It’s chronic pain. It’s surgeries. It’s hormonal chaos. It’s being dismissed. It’s fighting to be believed. It’s medical gaslighting.
Over the last 4 years, I’ve undergone multiple excision surgeries and laproscopic surgeries. Doctors removed dense scar tissue, a cyst larger than a navel orange, and even an embedded surgical staple left behind. I was also diagnosed with PCOS along the way. Recovery hasn’t been easy. I’ve dealt with medication reactions, incision complications, hospital stays, bloating, digestive issues, fertility issues, and intense hormone imbalances. And through it all, I’ve still heard: “Try ibuprofen.” “Use a heating pad.” That is NOT a cure, it’s hardly a bandaid.
Endometriosis affects 1 in 10 women, yet it takes an average of 7–10 years to be properly diagnosed. It took me nearly 8 years of fighting to get answers. That delay changes lives. It impacts careers, relationships, mental health, and fertility. And far too many of us are made to feel dramatic for pain that is very real.
But awareness isn’t just for women living with it. It’s for everyone, women and men. Partners. Families. Friends. Employers. Doctors. Educators. The more people who understand the symptoms, debilitating pelvic pain, heavy periods, painful intimacy, digestive issues, extreme fatigue, the sooner we can push for earlier diagnosis, better research, and better care. Education creates empathy. And empathy creates change. There is no cure for this hell of a diagnosis. It blows my mind. I’m sharing this because awareness matters. Early diagnosis matters. Being heard matters. If you’re struggling, keep advocating for yourself. You are not dramatic. You are not weak. And you are not alone. I’ve shared more of my journey on TikTok @Madisonrose212 and on my blog (linked in bio) with resources and support.
We deserve better care. We deserve to be believed. Women’s health has been overlooked for far too long, and we NEED change. 💛 #endometriosisawarenessmonth #reproductivehealth #medicalgaslighting #breakthesilence #knowthesymptoms #educateyourself taken in Living With Endometriosis by @madison.rose212
