As a pagan, I honor the full cycle of life: birth, living, death, and return. When I find a creature that has passed, I offer flowers and a prayer as a quiet act of respect.

This isn’t about dramatizing death. It’s about honoring the balance of life and death, and remembering that every being has spirit and a place in the natural order.

Death is not an end but a transformation. This ritual keeps me connected to nature, to spirit, and to the sacred rhythm of all things. taken in Austin, Texas by @madison_guida

I don’t usually film burials, but today felt different, today felt guided.

I’ve always seen birds as one of my spirit animals, messengers between here and somewhere softer. As a girl, I used to wish I could grow wings and fly away, especially on weeks like this one when grief sits heavy and thoughts of death feel too close.

So when I found a bird, lifeless and still, at a literal crossroads, something in me cracked open.

Crossroads aren’t just places where paths meet, they are sacred thresholds, moments charged with choice and transformation, where the soul is invited to release the old and step into the new.

It felt like a message, like Spirit meeting me where I was, not just to mourn but to mirror.

I wasn’t only burying a bird. I was laying to rest the part of me it carried, the one who’s been aching to escape, the one who doesn’t belong in this next chapter.

Maybe I’m no longer a little bird. Maybe that part of me needed to die so I can rise in something stronger, so I can walk forward with lighter hands.

Caring for them let me care for myself. And in grieving them, I gave myself permission to let go. taken in Austin, Texas by @madison_guida

I know this is controversial, but I think more cats should go outside. I’m pro cats getting fresh air, sunshine, and real stimulation. That being said, I’m also pro responsibility. If your cat is outside, it should be supervised, in a safe area away from cars and other dangers, and not free roaming in a way that harms wildlife. Leashes, catios, or monitored yard time can give them the best of both worlds. It’s not inside vs outside, it’s about being thoughtful, informed, and doing right by your cat and the environment. taken in Austin, Texas by @madison_guida

We spend our lives covered in layers of cloth, of expectations, of ego. But the forest has no use for such things.

To stand naked amidst the ancient trees is to strip away the “person” and return to the “being.” It is a ritual of absolute honesty. When you are naked before the earth, you cannot hide your spirit; you can only listen to the wind and the whispers of the leaves. I have never felt more powerful than when I am this vulnerable.

This is my way of remembering who I am when the world isn’t watching. What does it means to be truly free? taken in Los Angeles, California by @madison_guida
