It’s been 3 days without you and i still don’t know what to say or think when I remember that you’re gone. For 18 years i looked forward to coming down the shore every summer and spending my time in manahawkin because that meant time with my grandparents. For most of my childhood, every summer weekend was spent at your house and on LBI and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Being your oldest grandchild meant I got all the royalties of being the only grandchild for 6 years also. You treasured your workbench in the garage so much but always kept a spare bin of wood pieces because I loved hammering pieces of wood together for no reason. When you could still ride your bicycle, the Maddie, nonna, and pop bike rides were like the best thing ever to 5 year old me. Your greatest sacrifice was always playing my student when we played school, because in my nature of course, i was the bossy teacher. You were the greatest student I ever had, and also made me realize I didn’t want to be a teacher at the big age of 10 years old. When I tried to help you shuck clams over the summers, you didn’t question it, just helped me and made sure I didn’t cut myself because we all know I would if I actually had a sharp enough knife. You truly were the definition of the greatest grandfather and I really don’t know what I’m going to do without you for the rest of my life.

765,401 miracles and so much to be eternally grateful for. I couldn’t have imagined my first year with uscdm to be this much fun and more. I’ve met and gone beyond my fundraising goal and it’s 100% due to the closeness and support of the organization. I’ve met my best friends and role models this year, and had the time of my life dancing the night away. I’ve found my WHY and so many cause connections that’s made me 100x more excited for my future.

To my CR crew, I love you all SO MUCH, and I can’t imagine being surrounded by better people. To Kaelyn and Cate, aka the best directors ever, having you guys as leaders to look up to has shaped my future with USCDM. To Brynn, watching you as a leader has made me so much more excited for my future as a leader and member of this organization. You’ve been like a mom to me this year through all my struggles and your continuous support has meant more than you’ll ever know. To my fellow staffers, you guys are literally my best friends and I can’t wait to see our growth together!!

To Margaret, I genuinely cannot thank you enough for actually responding to my DM’s two years ago. You have been one of the biggest role models in my life and I’ll forever be in debt to you for actually reminding me to apply for staff and join the greatest thing that has ever happened to me.

I have so much to be grateful for after this year, and I can’t thank everyone enough that’s been with me this year, FIRST YEAR BEST YEAR!!!
