EXCITING NEWS! 🎥

Well this feels surreal to say…but I’m so excited to share I’ve joined the incredible team at ABC7 Eyewitness News in Los Angeles as a freelance reporter.

Reporting for @abc7la in the market I grew up in has honestly been a dream of mine since I started my career in journalism nearly 10 years ago.

I remember touring this newsroom as a 22-year-old student. I was so inspired by the journalists here: their professionalism, passion and impact in the community.

Grateful for the opportunity to continue learning, growing and telling SoCal stories 🙏🏼💙 taken in Los Angeles, California by @madisonweil

Emmy photos are out! 💫 Such a surreal night to receive Emmy #2 surrounded by colleagues and friends from different chapters.

This was for a border report I MMJ’d (which for non-industry friends, essentially means I wrote, shot and edited this alone).

As I said in my speech, this award is dedicated to the three asylum-seeking families who sat with me on a picnic bench in 110 degrees (because it was nearly summer in the Coachella Valley during a pandemic). They shared what they left behind in South America, the gruesome details of their journey, what they fear and hope for the future.

Border stories are often political by nature. But with this report, I wanted to highlight the neutrality of one basic human emotion, which was said to me by one of the fathers I interviewed: “I just want safety for my family.”

That’s fittingly the title of the piece. Humbled for this recognition from @nataspsw

A Riverside man is recovering from emergency surgery and could lose both legs after he says he tried to help a pregnant woman escape a burning apartment complex. His family says his first concern after waking up was whether the mother and baby were safe.

Still processing this surreal week spent in Ravello celebrating the best people 💟

@thesarahtrott and @_grantfisher_ threw the party of the century in a 900-year-old castle, and we’ll simply never get over it.

It was such a privilege to bear witness to your love, generosity, and the sacred magic of this day.

Turns out it is such a joy to watch your friend’s wildest dreams come true. taken in Villa Cimbrone, Ravello, Italia by @madisonweil
