“COMING ALIVE” by MadLight

Just released my first album and making this dump to look back on one of my fav nights of college. HUGE thank you to all my loved ones who pulled up to the album release party, y’all rly made this so special.

Just to give a little context for the album…

In the past couple years I really feel like I’ve been coming alive into myself as an artist and have realized how music and filmmaking are core parts of me. I barely ever talk about my music but I’ve been making music for the past 5 years, and out of the 50+ songs these 7 were the most special. The idea for Coming Alive started in a UCLA dorm my sophomore summer when I interned in LA, and I’m so fulfilled 2 years later having seen it come to life.

That year, my mom joined an art class back home in Jacksonville and she told me that art class for her has become a place where she gets to forget about everything else in the world, leave all her stresses behind, and just be in the present, and I honestly feel the same about my own art. For me the music is really just about making songs my friends can vibe to and enjoy, and it’s the one thing I’ve done purely for myself w no pressure attached.

I try to think of music as a soundtrack to my life, so I’m hoping that some of these songs get to join your soundtrack.

Gotta give a huge shoutout to one of my best friends @adithyasastry for playing such a big role in this, from giving me countless hours of studio time on north campus to helping mix the album.
