it’s 2AM and i woke up in a cold sweat, realizing that i have forsaken my matcha account followers and let my reputation as a matcha connoisseur be forgotten. hence, i present as a gift of my return to this matcha account— a black sesame maple matcha latte that i am drinking at 2AM while i lock in and catch up on work 🍵

i used 3/4 black sesame milk and 1/4 oat milk, as well as a tablespoon of vanilla maple syrup. i used a matcha that a friend got me from japan. yes i used an erewhon jar for my creation. i love being an LA pos 😔

i can’t wait to review more matcha places and reclaim my title as matcha god 🦷

MATCHA REVIEW TIMEEEE 🍵 this is matsu matcha in koreatown, LA!!

i got 3 drinks total! i got the matcha latte, usucha, and coconut cloud matcha 🍵

- okay so this place just opened up and i’ve been dying to go so i was lucky that the line wasn’t too insane! the atmosphere is so pretty and i love the bonsai tree and wood paneling! there’s no wifi and limited seating so not ideal to study but overall an amazing atmosphere
- i got 3 drinks total myself that i drank throughout the day!
- the coconut cloud matcha was SOOOO creamy and perfectly sweet! loved the subtle taste of coconut and matcha! i honestly loved this drink a lot (a bit decadent for a daily drink but i would totally come back just for this one)
- the usucha was lightly sweet and the taste of the matcha was not too overbearing! it was thinner than most usucha so it was more like a matcha tea! very nice and earthy taste without being too bitter! also no clumps so i loved it!!
- the matcha latte was good! not anything that i was blown away by but i really liked it! wish that it was a little creamier and a little smoother but overall very strong!
- overall i give this place a 8.5/10!!! i will definitely return for more matcha soon 🦇 by @madmakesmatcha

MATCHA REVIEW TIME 😝🦇🍵 this is the matcha from Rok Cafe in Koreatown, LA!!

- okay so i’ve heard a lot of great things about this cafe so it’s been on my list for a long time!
- it’s a very small cafe but there’s some seating and the vibes inside are really nice! i love the cherry blossom tree they have in the middle 🌸
- okay so i ordered 3 different matcha drinks… 😖🍵 i got a matcha strawberry duo (essentially a strawberry matcha latte), a matcha yuzu tonic, and a matcha einspanner - this totaled to $24 (with tip!)
- i was fairly disappointed in the cup sizes since the portions seemed so small for such an expensive price point :/
- i will say that there isn’t a lot of accommodations for non-dairy options because i asked the the strawberry matcha without the dairy cream and they accidentally gave me one with it, so i asked for a remake, only for them to give me a strawberry matcha that was filled 75% full 😀 i don’t know why they couldn’t of just filled the cup full with oat milk where there would’ve been the cream
- the matcha tonic… was very sweet 😅 i had to wait for the ice to dilute it a bit because there was so much syrup in the drink; but overall, not the worst matcha tonic i’ve had! the yuzu was nice and tangy and the matcha flavor paired well with it
- the strawberry duo matcha… was incredibly disappointing 😭 half of the cup was filled with strawberry compote and made the drink so sweet that it was essentially all just sugar 😔 i really wanted to love this one but i couldn’t taste the matcha whatsoever, the sugar was too overpowering, and the barista didn’t even fill the cup full so it was essentially just a thick creamy strawberry syrup. neither me or my sister finished it.
- for the matcha einspanner, i couldn’t drink it because it had the dairy cream top but my sister said it was also incredibly sweet and hard to finish. however she said it was the best of the three for her 😭
- me and my sister’s stomachs hurt after and we agreed that it stemmed from the matcha we had earlier 😔
- i hate making bad reviews, but i honestly will not be returning to rok cafe… i give it a 4/10. it was all presentation and vibes, but no substance. 🍵 taken in Koreatown by @madmakesmatcha

MATCHA REVIEW TIMEEEE 🦇🍵 this is the matcha latte from Cha Redefine in Costa Mesa, CA!!

first off i apologize for not posting any matcha reviews in a hot second 😖 i’m gonna be more consistent bc i’ve been meaning to try more matcha places!!!

- the vibe in this cafe was just okay! it’s in the middle of a mall so it’s a little chaotic getting in and out 😭
- there’s lots of matcha options! i wish i got another drink because they had cool matcha flavors (including a peach matcha drink :0)
- i ordered a matcha latte with oat milk! mine came unsweetened accidentally so i had to ask for them to add in the sugar after haha
- the matcha color was nice! not the deepest green but also not pale or sewage green 🍵
- the milk was not too creamy nor watery and the sweetness level was a little more on the sweet side!
- there were some matcha clumps and it did taste a little powdery 😭 i fear it turned me off from finishing this drink
- the matcha taste was not strong and i couldn’t really get any fresh green tea taste (which i always look for!)
- in conclusion, this matcha was somewhat mid to be fully transparent 😔 not awful but not stellar! i’d only return to get it if i really need a caffeine fix to be honest 😀 i give it a 6/10! onto the next 🏃🏻‍♀️

MATCHA REVIEW TIMEEEE 👹🍵 this is the matcha from kin bakeshop in santa barbara!!!

i went to santa barbara for the day with my friends and i heard amazing things about this cafe so obviously i had to try their matcha! i got 3 drinks— the banana matcha, the black sesame matcha, and a normal matcha latte with oat milk!

- first off, the atmosphere of the cafe is so cozy and the employees are so sweet 😭 they even gave me barley tea while i waited for my drinks
- the line was MASSIVE and it took us 35 minutes to get to the front!! there were some sweet fans that said hi to me so it made it worth it 🥹
- starting with the matcha latte, i liked it! the color was a nice deep green, the consistency was smooth and rich, and i could taste the matcha! however i will say it did have a little bit of a powdery texture and i wish it was just a hairrr sweeter (just my preference) since the matcha taste was slightly earthy/bitter
- the banana matcha was good! the taste of bananas was fresh and strong! again, wish it was a tiny bit sweeter since the taste of banana was so strong in comparison to the matcha taste! not my fav but very good!
- finally, the black sesame matcha… was so good 😭 definitely my fav of the 3! the nutty flavor of the black sesame paired well with the matcha taste, and it was perfectly sweet and creamy. by far the strongest drink that i had and i would return just for that!
- overall, i rate all the drinks that i got from kin bakeshop a 8/10! i would def return if i’m back in santa barbara! onto the next! 🍵🍵🍵🏃🏻‍♀️ taken in Santa Barbara, California by @madmakesmatcha

MATCHA REVIEW TIME 😎🍵 this is the matcha latte and usucha from setsugekka in new york city! (spoiler alert: this is the highest rating i’ve ever given)

- i’ve heard lots of things about this place so i was dying to try it when i came to new york!
- the shop is super small and intimate! really cozy vibes so you get lots of attention when you’re sitting at the bar
- i ordered an usucha of their unjunotomo matcha (their more premium ceremonial matcha) and a matcha latte with oat milk with their jobetsugi matcha
- when i tell you both of these drinks were INSANE… i cannot express how good they were 😭
- the unjonotomo usucha was SMOOTH, velvety, and had a fresh earthy taste. not too bitter, perfectly sweet without any sugar, and it felt like a warm hug in the new york cold
- the matcha latte came unsweetened but it was perfectly creamy and smooth, didn’t need any sugar, and the matcha felt fresh and soothing
- the owner was grinding the matcha herself inside the store!! she was so sweet and all the workers were incredibly welcoming and nice 🥹
- hands down the best matcha i’ve had in the US… this is an easy 10/10 for me
- this is the first 10/10 i’ve given in the years that i’ve run this page!!! absolutely insane 😭
- i even came back the next day to try the matcha again because it was THAT good

MATCHA REVIEW TIME 😝🍵 this is the matcha from rikka fikka in san diego, ca!!!

- i’ve heard a ton about this place on tiktok and have been dying to try for a long time!
- the interior is so nice! lots of wood, nice and bright, and good energy! also the girl who took my order was sooooo sweet and accommodating!
- the line was v long 😭 i waited around 25 minutes to get matcha!
- i got 2 drinks- the matcha latte with oat milk and strawberry matcha w oat!
- the matcha lattes were gorgeous colors! nice and bright green!
- the taste of the matcha was nice and smooth, not too bitter, and very fresh! the oat milk was creamy and added a lot to the taste!
- this is hands down the best strawberry matcha i’ve had!!!! the strawberry compote was FRESH and not too large nor pulpy! the perfect consistency and taste! it made the matcha nice and sweet and even better!

MATCHA REVIEW TIME 👹👹👹🍵 this is the matcha latte from stagger coffee in ktown, los angeles!!

- this was my first time going to this cafe! i heard a lot of good things about this coffee shop so i had to go! i went w my friends hannah and kaitlyn to visit my friend sarah (who works at stagger)!!
- the employees were so sweet! (especially sarah obvi 😝)
- the atmosphere was so chill and pretty! lots of people studying, and a lot of space to chat and do work!
- i got the matcha latte with oat milk and a peach jasmine tea!
- i was pleasantly surprised how good the matcha was! creamy and smooth, no clumps, a lovely green color, and not too sweet!
- the latte was sweetened with vanilla and the flavor was light and not too overpowering! the taste of matcha was nice and light too!
- honestly i will be returning! this is my new matcha place fav for ktown!
- i give this matcha a 8.5/10!!! onto the next! 💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻🍵🍵🍵🍵 taken in Stagger Coffee by @madmakesmatcha

MATCHA REVIEW TIME (christmas eve edition) 👹🍵 this is the matcha latte from DAMO in koreatown, los angeles!

- okay so i’ve been meaning to try this cafe for a really long time and i finally got to do it!
- cozy vibe inside! lots of people studying and there’s a cute christmas tree up front 🥹 there was even a lady live streaming tarot card readings at one of the tables LMAOO
- i got a matcha latte w oat milk and agave! 🍵 really nice color, not too clumpy, and not too sweet!
- the taste was a little bitter so i would have preferred a little more sweetener but overall a good taste! definitely one of the better matcha lattes ive had in k-town!
- i fear i may have to deduct a point because i took a sip and found a little piece of their matcha whisk had broken off into my latte 😭 it means their whisks weren’t properly bloomed or is getting a bit old!
- i also got some hot green tea which was perfect for this rainy day :’) i had a fun lil day to myself and had a visit to my amah
- also a fan came up to say hi!!! so sweet and i hope yall had a fun day 🥹
- okay so i rate this matcha a solid 7.5/10! (would’ve been higher if it was just a little sweeter and if there was no wood bits in the latte!) onto the next! 🏃🏻‍♀️🍵 taken in DAMO by @madmakesmatcha
