Some may point out that the main differences between mezcal and tequila is where in Mexico it is produced and that mezcal is typically roasted in an earthen oven, which gives it a smokey flavor. These are both true, however, for generations, all tequila was considered mezcal.⁠

Over the centuries, many tequilas moved away from the traditional practices, adopting industrial practices to increase the amount of tequila they could produce and sell, and using chemical additives to mask the imperfections (which is permitted even in bottles labeled 100% agave).⁠

In addition to careful craft, the conditions of the land are what provides Madre Tequila its natural flavors.
⁠
All agaves are harvested at some of the highest elevations in Jalisco, 7,500 feet above sea level, rough conditions that lead to a higher sugar content in the plant, naturally providing the sweetness high-quality tequilas are recognized for.
⁠
Once harvested, these agaves are roasted in clay brick ovens and then distilled using well water drawn from nearly 1,500 feet below the surface, each step offering a natural mineral essence to the spirit.
