Gratitude to the @willametteweek for the story about the Off Beat and its contributions to Portland's vibrant all ages music scene.
Many thanks to the bands that have put the Sound Squad Supreme crew to the test by making our venue sound amazing!
Shout out to the music fans that helpake the Off Beat a safer space to build an all ages community that will last!

It's hard to believe that we've been open for barely 6 months! We've got a lot planned for the rest of the year as our parent organization @friendsofnoise is nearing their 10th anniversary!

Back in 2019 a newish punk band from Seattle hit us up to host a show for them here in PDX. So we asked @picapdx if we could use their lobby and thus we hosted @kingsheim for their first Portland show!
Lucky for you they're still making music and coming through Portland on 6/19 and you don't want to miss them. Spin the Spite is an amazing album that you're gonna wanna buy and listen to on repeat for like a week. It's that good.
Hit them up for the deets and bring some cash to help them with tour expenses.

Yeah, so this really happened!
Madalyn and I can't thank Kelly Clarkson and the entire team at the @kellyclarksonshow enough for having us as their guests. We had such a great time sharing our @friendsofnoise journey, our goal to open the @theoffbeatpdx and how fun it's been to be a great father and daughter team!
We'll cherish the memories of this trip forever!

Best. Trip. Ever!
I was blessed to spend a wonderful week in NYC with my daughter.
We got to give love and hugs to family and friends , take the LIRR, and be guests on the Kelly Clarkson Show!
It was hot and muggy in the best way.
I love my home town all the more when I get to share it with my seed. Bean pies, beef patties, thrift shopping, taking the subway and the Staten Island ferry, walking to get icees with our cousins and dinner with some of our Harlem family.
I'll cherish this trip forever.

So today is my birthday and I consider myself so fortunate to have my health, the love of friends and family both near and far, and a career that impacts so many young people in a positive way.
As many of you know I helpes found and lead a nonprofit called Friends of Noise. We amplify the voices of the youth of our community by teaching life skills, job skills and helping them find joy through music and the performing arts. This summer we're going to be opening an all ages music venue/teen workforce development center called the Off Beat. It'll be a safer space we're teens will collaborate and grow with each other to help build a world that they will be proud of.
As a birthday wish I'm asking everyone I know to make a donation towards a Season Pass to the Off Beat (valued at $240). Each Season Pass will be granted to an underserved youth of our community.
Your donation of a Season Pass will enable a teen to see 3 free concerts per month for a year. It will also give them 10% off of additional tickets, exclusive merch and easy access to our professional development workshops.
It's our goal to make the Off Beat an intersectional hub of learning, creativity and fun. Your help will go a long way towards making that vision a reality. Please find the donation link in my bio!
