While working with Francine on this poster I came to understand things about CAMP I had been blind to before. She had the idea of the angelic presence impailing herself with the camp’s “talking stick” as a sort of metaphor for the removal of one’s spiritual wound while talking openly about trauma. I feel so close to this image, it’s become an important part of the entire vision. by @madvalon

We’re thrilled to share the official poster for @madvalon and @jillian_frank’s DRINKING AND DRIVING, which has its world premiere at @lafestivalofmovies this weekend. The film plays at @2220arts this Saturday (with Q&A moderated by Amanda Kramer) and at @now_instant on Sunday (with Q&A moderated by Micah Gottlieb) — tickets are still available for each show. ⁣Poster designed by @darcydemerse.art.
⁣
Early twenties Iris (Jillian Frank) and Palmer (Avalon Fast) never left their hometown. They work at the same restaurant, share the same bed, and both have a habit of drinking and driving. They run into Levi (Ethan Hawksworth), a guy they used to know. They spend time with him and his cousin, Phoenix (Henri Gillespi), in cars, backyards, and other people’s bedrooms. When Levi shares a dream he had with Iris things change between the four of them. The reality of the summer becomes faded, the parties die. The four end in a field of unified confusion.⁣ by @madvalon

FLEAPIT x JUNKYARD PRESENT: DRINKING AND DRIVING at PROPELLER ARCADE

It’s the Summer of 2016 in the town you always said you were leaving. You’re in love with your best friend but neither of you ever say it out loud. Looking into her eyes and drinking to die. What if that summer never ended? Avalon Fast and Jillian Frank’s DRINKING AND DRIVING emerged from the new wave of Canadian DIY cinema earlier this year and set itself apart by excavating awkward intimacies of love, grief, and alcohol ten years ago against the all-too-relatable dreamy haze of small town living. Trampoline sleepovers, dirtbikes, and text messages. After its warm screening at this year’s Halifax Independent Filmmakers Festival, we are so excited to be bringing Avalon and Jillian and their movie back to the big screen in Halifax for one night only.
