Snowboarder since ’86 - Old boards, new lines - Riding Burton Vintage like they’re meant to be – hard, fast & in powder

POSTS STORIES REELS

The new season is about to kick off. My rideable collection finally has a proper space – stoked to see it all come together!

The shot of Craig Kelly was taken back in 1992 – Huge thanks to @trevorgraves for supporting me with this epic picture – always an inspiration.

Snow is only frozen water.
So why not just ride the liquid stuff?

Probably the last splitboard tour of the season.
Snow melting fast, spring in the air.
Time to wax down, hang it up, and switch gear.

Resorts are closed for the season
no reason to stop riding.
Last light, last turns

With period correct surfwear, always.

Chinese downhill. Top to valley.
No strategy. Just speed. And good wax.
The older the board, the better.

Back on the podium with my son Tom and my brother Joe.

I love the Longboard Classic Stuben where vintage longboards and old school shapes stack up at the start like a time machine.

No gates. No order.
Chinese downhill off the Albona.
Full throttle. First one down takes it.

Sharing it with my family. Passing it on.
Same passion, next generation.

Longboard Classic Stuben.
The Woodstock of snowboarding.
Since ’99 – still raw, still real.
What started as a loose idea turned into a ritual.
Less chaos, more soul now – riding lines with the next generation, boards from another era under our feet.

Stuben am Arlberg. April 11.
The capital of vintage snowboarding.

1988 Chilli Willi by Crazy Banana.
Out in the pow with the Mini Me in black.
The board is stiff and heavy — not made for groomers.
But point it down a powder field or choppy run and it just flies in real Longboardclassic style.

1991 Craig Kelly Extreme aka the badger. For me, one of the nicest designs and colourways of all CK boards. Took me almost a decade of collecting to find one in decent condition. A great board to charge on. Best paired with period-correct bindings, a cant plate to tuck the knees, and the matching OG Burton Surfwear.

Sometimes you lose.
Years of board trading and only got burned once. only the good side was shown, price way too good to be true.
Unwrapped a wreck: missing edges, serious base damage.

Full restoration mode: edge repair, plenty of P-Tex, clean base work.

Jason Ford – Sylvester – Ride (1995)
Powder version, 158, kick nose and tail, horseshoe bindings.
Back then, Ride was the shit. The base horseshoe binding was cult — but honestly, pretty crap.
The Warner Bros graphic was super cool and done without permission.
Only a limited number were pressed before they got busted.
Vintage saved.
