If today feels impossible, this song is for you

During my week in Arusha, Tanzania, my new friend Rodger and I sat on a log beside a river and sang a song we wrote “Gongo La Leo” (Climb the Hill), mixing Swahili and English. Rodger is one of those artists who is able to create beauty out of anything - he’s an incredible painter (including glow-in-the-dark masterpieces), and a natural at guitar, songwriting, & voice. On top of that he’s one of the most beautiful and pure souls I’ve had the pleasure of meeting.

The song says: “Today is an elephant’s back - how are you going to climb it with just a teaspoon of fuel?”

It’s about hard days. About staying soft anyway. About finding tiny reasons to keep going. About remembering there’s still beauty here.

When we wrote it I needed this energy badly and I’ve been needing it these days too. If you need this energy today, I hope it reaches you at the right moment 🤍

New mural for TaTe Village Hotel! 🌿

Local animals and flora in green with orange accents. I never missed a sunset at their rooftop bar for the week I was here ☀️ The staff are so sweet and fun I’ll miss you all dearly, and Windhoek is an amazing city - calm but filled with life, the kindest people, and so lush!
