🍴Looking for something better than the usual quick lunch? Here are 5 Berlin lunch spots worth saving – from Japanese comfort food and Levantine burgers to Italian classics and all-day brunch. 🤍

🥑 Milja und Schäfa | Friedrichshain: A neighborhood favorite for a relaxed lunch, with colorful plates, breakfast classics and plenty of veggie options. My personal highlight: Their STULLE – perfect when you want something fresh but filling.

🍝 Mädchenitaliener | Mitte: A long-time Berlin favorite for Italian food in the middle of Mitte. Come for pasta, seasonal dishes and a little Italian feeling during your lunch break. I always order the Fig Tagliatelle.

🍔 963 Berlin | Charlottenburg: Levantine flavors meet burgers! Their special burger menu is available Monday–Saturday. I especially liked the Karaz Burger with flame-grilled beef, cheddar, roasted beetroot, sumac-pickled onions and homemade cherry mayo. Definitely not your average burger.

🇯🇵 Yume Berlin | Friedrichshain: Such a cute spot for Japanese comfort food, think Katsu, Donburi, Omurice and Japanese Sandos. Go for the Donburi – one of owner Fen’s favorites – and add an Azuki Kinako Latte with Kinako Mochi for something a little different. 🍵

🥐 Croissant Couture | Mitte: An all-day breakfast & brunch spot where croissants get a serious upgrade. Expect everything from Eggs Benedict and pancakes to savory creations. I really liked the crispy Fried Chicken Croissant. 🔥

There are some restaurants you keep coming back to, and Mädchenitaliener is one of them. 🇮🇹

For me, it’s never too warm for truffle pasta or their unforgettable tagliatelle with fresh figs. If you’re visiting, these are the two dishes I always recommend. Fresh pasta, simple ingredients, and so much flavour. Mädchenitaliener is especially known for its handmade pasta and seasonal creations.

And if you’re lucky enough to meet Silke, stay a little longer. She’s the kind of person who turns a quick coffee into one of the nicest conversations you’ll have on one of Berlin-Mitte’s most charming streets.

Want more Italian gems in Berlin? 🇮🇹 You’ll find plenty in the Italy chapter of my book Travel the World in Berlin.
