One week ago I came back from the Chicago Drum Show and I’m still in rapture. I packed my car right after finishing a new batch of single ply Snare Drums, drove non stop and arrived straight to Load In. As soon as I walked into that room it fell like Family. The good vibe and energy from every organizer, drummer, maker, stores, companies and every single person that visited our booth, made our experience very special and created beautiful memories for Maelo Drums.Thanks to the Drugan Brothers, Family and friends for putting together this amazing and unique drum show. March 26 at a 2nd sold-out night @BoweryPalace, @Kathy.Valentine of @OfficialGoGos & longtime NYC punk fixture @Jesse_Malin (of @OfficialDGen) organized a great Rock & Roll Celebration of Life for their late friend, the revered @BlondieOfficial 🥁 legend @Clem.Burke, bringing together many of his legendary musical friends, colleagues, and next generation fans for a super fun night that paid fine tribute to the greatest rock & roll drummer from Bayonne, NJ.The nearly 3--hour show included supergroup performances, a set from the recent Blondie tour band of @AndeeBlackSugar 🎸 🎤, @TheRealTommyK 🎸 🎤, @GlenMatlock1 of @SexPistols bass/🎤, @MattKatzBohen 🎹, and @MaeloDrums 🥁 play some of Burke's favorite songs with guest singers, and as set of guests backed by @JesseMalinsSilverManhattan band members @Bandit0ntheRun 🎸 🎤, @JamesCruzBass bass/🎤, and @DamonIsaacSmith 🎹 (see earlier posts for extended clips) and intros from @PalmyraDelran. Last night @BoweryPalace for the 2nd sold-out night in tribute to the late revered @BlondieOfficial 🥁 legend @Clem.Burke, another highlight was seeing the recent Blondie touring band of @AndeeBlackSugar 🎸 🎤, @TheRealTommyK 🎸 🎤, @GlenMatlock1 of @SexPistols bass/🎤, @MattKatzBohen 🎹, and @MaeloDrums 🥁 play some of Burke's favorite songs with guest singers, including NYC singer-songwriter @Diane.Gentile on this grooving cover of @T.RexBolanOfficial 1971 glam rock anthem "Bang a Gong (Get It On).#GoodMusic #Blondie #ClemBurke #DianeGentile #TRexBand by @maelodrums

About 2 weeks and too many snow storms ago, @maelodrums had the honor of making a comeback at the @thedelawaredrumshow. Thank you @joeyboom1 for putting this event together year after year 🥁⚡️👊 We were happy to catch up and connect with friends of the drumming community as we showcased a variety of new drums and exciting projects to come. I hope everyone made it home safe after the massive blizzard. Cheers and hope to see you at the @chicagodrumshow by @maelodrums

Ayer recibí una noticia para la cual no estaba preparado. Mi maestro, mi gran amigo pero sobre todo mi Padre Baterista ya no está entre nosotros. Conocí al maestro José Antonio Mato hace más de 25 años, me aceptó como uno de sus alumnos, y en poco tiempo ir los martes de 4:00 pm a 5:00 pm al sótano de La Candelaria se volvió mi religión por casi una década. Fue el Maestro Mato quien me formó como un músico profesional, me guió y hasta me ayudó a tomar mi decisión cuando me mudé a NY y empecé mi nuevo capítulo en el Drummers Collective. Un maestro que no se quedaba con secretos, compartía como ninguno y se alegraba cada vez que un alumno aprendía algo nuevo y sobresalía. Me enseñó cómo tocar cualquier estilo, me enseñó no solo a tocar batería, aprendí a tocar conga, timbal, bongo, cumaco, fulia, culo e’ puya, etc… y me enseñó a escuchar, a tocar con otros músicos y saber cómo acompañar sin sonar “regado”.También te vi reparar, restaurar, pintar, comprar y vender baterías, redoblantes y cuánto tambor pasaba por ese estudio/sótano. Aprendí de marcas, tipos de construcción, medidas, maderas, metales, sonidos e instrumentos que ni sabía que existían. Y así también me inspiraste para crear Maelo Drums.Gracias por tanto Maestro, extrañaré nuestras largas conversaciones, tus consejos y nuestros más de 25 años de amistad, me quedé con las ganas de visitarte en Ourense pero el tiempo nos venció, ahora nos queda a tus alumnos mantener tu increíble legado, recordarte siempre con mucho amor y compartir tus invaluables enseñanzas con las nuevas generaciones.
