It was a pleasure to be apart of the vision for @rivayat_chs , a coastal creative Indian resturant coming to downtown Charleston!

The boat scene was inspired by Sujith’s memories fishing the backwaters of Kerala in southern India.
The historical architecture and landscape of the North represents the bold flavors and staples of traditional cuisine.
Looking forward to experiencing the flavors & atmosphere at @rivayat_chs ! taken in Charleston, South Carolina by @maggels_

Local artist @maggels_ brought our walls to life with two striking murals- one capturing the rich colors and textures of the North, the other inspired by the lush tropics of the South. Together, they frame the story of India’s vast culinary landscape ✨

While the heart of Rivayat is deeply coastal, our journey extends across the subcontinent — featuring vibrant coastal flavors alongside beloved Northern staples. So don’t worry… your Chicken Tikka Masala, Butter Chicken, and other timeless favorites will be here waiting for you.

And beyond the classics, you’ll discover dishes reimagined with a fresh perspective — flavors that are both rooted in tradition and entirely our own! taken in Charleston, South Carolina by @maggels_

Opening day is getting closer…

This mural, created by local artist @maggels_, blends the vibrant tropics of India with the textures of the Lowcountry—setting the tone for what Rivayat is all about.

From bold coastal Indian flavors and locally sourced seafood to beloved Indian staples and spice-forward cocktails, Rivayat is bringing something entirely new to downtown Charleston!

Follow along as we bring this space (and story) to life! 📍 Coming soon to 210 Rutledge Ave taken in Charleston, South Carolina by @maggels_
