What does it really mean to go “beyond the cheque”?

In the latest episode of #TheGivingHour, Jayant Rastogi, Global CEO, Magic Bus India Foundation, speaks with Govind Iyer, Chairperson, Social Venture Partners India, Independent Director at Infosys, and Trustee of The Rockefeller Foundation, on how philanthropy in India is evolving.

From traditional giving to strategic, collaborative philanthropy, the conversation explores what it takes to build trusted, scalable and financially sustainable institutions and how responsible giving can become a powerful force for long-term nation building.

Because meaningful change isn’t defined by the size of the cheque, but by the intent, commitment and heart behind it.

As we work towards a Viksit Bharat, it’s time to rethink what it means to give and the impact we can create when we give with purpose.

Sometimes, a child just needs someone to believe in them.

Meet Thangameena Murugan, our Magic Maker, whose journey with Magic Bus began in 2013. Over 12 years, she has grown from a Community Coordinator to a Life Skill Educator, witnessing countless moments of change.

One stays close to her heart - a student who was often teased for not doing well in studies, who found confidence through Magic Bus sessions and discovered his strength in cricket.

Today, whenever he wins a match or brings home a trophy, he comes back to share it with her.

Because sometimes, the greatest reward is seeing a child believe in themselves.

12 years of inspiring, nurturing and celebrating young potential; and the journey continues.

A proud moment for Magic Bus India Foundation!

During his visit to GSSS Killar, Pangi, the Hon’ble Education Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Shri Rohit Thakur Ji, interacted with our Jeevan Shiksha Prakalp (JSP) Fellow, Trilok Singh, who briefed him on Magic Bus’s work in the region.

Implemented in collaboration with NITI Aayog’s Aspirational Blocks Programme, Jeevan Shiksha Prakalp is reaching children across six aspirational blocks of Himachal Pradesh – Pangi, Tissa, Pooh, Nirmand, Chuhara and Kupvi.

The Hon’ble Minister appreciated Magic Bus’s efforts to extend life skills education and adolescent empowerment initiatives to some of the state’s most remote and underserved regions.

Geography should never be a barrier to opportunity. We remain committed to reaching the last mile and ensuring that every child has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. by @magic.bus

The AI for Social Good Challenge 2026 is India’s first no-code AI hackathon for youth. Supported by Cisco Corporate Social Responsibility, it brings together young people from our AI-Life & Employability Skills Connect With Work programme.

At our regional bootcamps in Hyderabad and Chennai, students from Tier 2–4 colleges built working MVPs in a single day. Many of them are first-generation graduates from non-STEM backgrounds. They used only prompts and no-code tools to solve real problems in their own communities, and every solution maps to a UN Sustainable Development Goal.

Now the top 8 teams head to the Finale happening on 30th October 2026 🏆

Built by youth. For their communities.

Thank you to Cisco Corporate Social Responsibility, AI Masterclass and Entri App for backing these young builders.

At the Sports CSR Leadership Impact Summit 2026, organised by PHDCCI, our Director Capacity Building and Collaboration, Subhomoy Bhaduri, shared perspectives on how sport can drive learning, youth empowerment and gender equity.

At Magic Bus, we believe sport is both a pedagogy and an outcome. Just as classrooms nurture learning, playgrounds offer adolescents opportunities to build life skills, confidence and agency, particularly for girls.

Unlocking this potential requires an ecosystem of trained adults who can facilitate meaningful, experiential learning and enable more children to access community playgrounds.

Stronger partnerships across government, industry and the development sector can help scale sport as a pathway to inclusion, learning and opportunity.
