Waiting on my Oregon trip film to get developed (what a lovely practice in patience) and still remembering how slow & sweet this Portland trip felt last month, figuring out to feel that way into the rest of Summer here at home in Florida. We don’t have all the same things here (and how important that is, that visiting one city isn’t all of them) and I miss our family there, but we have our own bookstores, sweet treats, good people, gardens and vintage treasures, and I’m feeling grateful for all the reminders of those that a vacation away brings.🌹 by @magicaldays

Beautiful Sunday Traveling Catholic Mass at 📍The Grotto & Gardens, Portland, Oregon🌲Always looking for cool churches to visit on vacation, I love that this is just tucked away in the middle of the city, and you can visit the shrine any day of the week too. We had just missed some negative low tide days on our trip, which means less water and more visibility for sea life, so I worried we wouldn’t get the coolest tide pool experience—but we still saw so much on the Oregon Coast. Some treasures from the sea.🫧There were so many things I was looking for out on the Oregon Coast—sea stars in the tide pools I thought we’d miss good conditions for but didn’t, glass floats in Lincoln City I imagined might magically appear for me (they didn’t), some light through the foggy seas & rocky tunnels of life lately, or at least some really cool rocks.And so many things I found also/instead—my kids coming alive on the sand & in the trees, the beginnings of a more analog “90s” summer, and some deep diving/digging to parts of my brain that needed out.🐚I took film pictures & started a journal, but had to leave these here to start.📸📓 by @magicaldays

Getting back into routine after vacation means Sunday reset with mass & working in the garden, but also adjusting church style from chilly Oregon flannels & boots for the Florida summer heat skirts & sandals.🥲Jet-lagged & lazy today & it’s HOT outside, so I wanted to be pretty comfortable. Outfit feels like nothing special, but maybe that’s what you’re working with too! I wanted to figure out how to make a wide format reel before we leave for this Summer vacation so this is just an experiment with some of last year’s Italy trip! Imagine the damage social media has done to my brain that I think “it’s too late to post that” & “no one will care.” Instagram also tells me a video will get shown to fewer people if it’s over 30 seconds, so I made this shorter—but one of my new years intentions is to hold my own attention for longer than that, so I’m thinking it may not happen here.🫶Here’s to a slow 90s butter mom/train ride/film/book/analog/naptime summer.🌲🌲🌲 by @magicaldays
