I'm staying connected to the part of me that is fueled by COLLECTIVE SUCCESS. Investing time 50+ hours a week into people and watching them shine together is the core of who I am.
Congratulations Filthy Animal team, let's see how far we get by putting PEOPLE FIRST.

Sincerely,

Not your average Beverage Manager,

1. Guests Feel Your Energy
Your energy sets the tone the moment a guest walks in.
Tension between staff becomes tension in the room.
Aligned teams create warmth, confidence, and trust.

2. Communicate Like Adults
Direct, respectful communication keeps the operation smooth.
Assumptions create conflict; clarity prevents it.
Feedback should be honest, calm, and free of ego.

3. The Mission Comes Before Mood
Personal emotions cannot outweigh the guest experience.
Take a moment if you need it, then return with intention.
When the mission leads, the culture strengthens and service elevates.

As someone who has learned an extraordinary amount as a Beverage Manager overseeing immense volume and high‑pressure service, I know firsthand that culture is not a side note.
It is the backbone of every successful operation. Guests don’t just experience our product; they experience our energy, our communication, and the way we move as a team. The standards below aren’t about perfection. They’re about professionalism, consistency, and pride in the craft that defines hospitality.

To my team: Thank you for accepting the challenge of creating kindness when no one is looking ✨️

The Power of One‑on‑One Mentorship in High Volume Craft Bartending

1. One hour of focused 1:1 training accelerates real skill development.

Beginners absorb techniques faster when they can ask questions freely, get immediate corrections, and build muscle memory without the pressure of a full bar. Personalized coaching turns confusion into confidence quickly.

2. Mentorship builds confidence before technique.

Confidence unlocks high‑volume performance. When a new bartender feels supported, guided, and genuinely invested in, they stop second‑guessing themselves and start moving with intention and flow.

3. Direct mentorship transfers the “why,” not just the “how.”

High‑volume craft bartending requires pacing, prioritization, emotional control, and standards. A single hour with a mentor exposes trainees to the judgment and decision‑making patterns that define elite bartender$.

1. Ego shows up fast in high volume rooms because it exposes insecurity.

In high‑volume service, ego isn’t always arrogance. It’s often insecurity dressed up as control. When the pressure spikes, people cling to what they think they can control: their section, their station, their way of doing things. But the moment a team feels genuinely seen, valued, and supported, the competition dissolves. They stop fighting for dominance and start fighting for flow. Trust turns a chaotic room into a coordinated one, it’s the friggin difference between everyone pulling in their own direction and everyone pulling their sh*t together.

2. Teaching trust means modeling it first.

You can’t ask a team to trust you if your leadership doesn’t show them how. Trust is taught through behavior: delegating without micromanaging, communicating expectations clearly, and staying consistent even when the room feels it is on fire. When your team sees you hand off responsibility with confidence, share information openly, and follow through every time, they internalize the message: “This leader believes in me.” Once they feel that, they start believing in each other. This is the foundation of any high‑volume machine.

3. Gaining trust is a daily practice, not a title perk.

A title might give you authority, but it will never give you trust. That part is earned in the small, unglamorous moments: how you respond when a ticket is late, how you handle a mistake, how you speak to people when the room is loud and the stakes are high. When leaders stay composed, take accountability, and lift the team instead of adding pressure, the room mirrors that energy. Trust becomes a culture, not a request. In high volume, culture what will carry you through every request.

Happy Saturday Service!

It’s the moment where discipline outweighs impulse. Where you choose to observe instead of react, and where you learn what your team truly needs instead of what you assume they need. In high‑volume environments, that pause becomes a superpower. It’s how you spot patterns, coach with intention, and build a team that can think, adapt, and support each other without waiting for someone to swoop in. The more we honor that space, the stronger and more self‑sufficient our teams become.

1. Pause to read the room before you intervene.

In high‑volume service, everything moves fast, but not everything needs your immediate touch. Observing first helps you distinguish between a momentary rush and a systemic issue, so your actions become precise instead of reactive. It sharpens your instincts, I promise.

2. Use the gap between awareness and action to empower your team.

When you don’t jump in instantly, you create space for staff to problem‑solve, communicate, and support each other. That pause becomes a training moment, building confidence and reducing dependency on management during peak pressure. (This doesnt excuse management from being present and on the floor)

3. Let patterns reveal themselves before you correct behavior.

In a busy environment, one rough moment doesn’t equal a performance issue. Watching for consistency, be it good or bad, helps you coach with accuracy, fairness, and credibility, which strengthens trust and team culture.

What are your coaching strategies, the ones that help your team stay sharp, calm, and connected when the pressure hits?

Reflections -2024 (short read)
.
I've been prioritizing my mental and physical health by only sharing my work on social media. I know yall have seen me hustling, but the other side of the moon is...
A month ago, I went in for an annual ultrasound for the DVT (blood clot) that was found in my jugular vein back in 2022. Only to find out that the treatment plan I have been on since then has failed to reduce the size of the clot. This means I will have to be on blood thinners for the rest of my life. They are disgustingly overpriced, and they make me feel like absolute garbage combined with my other medications. Staying active is recommended, and although it sometimes feels unattainable, taking 7 minute power naps when it is legal sure is helping.
Anyway, I'm here, I'm staying strong, and I've been working a boat-load just to pay for these medical expenses. I apologize if I haven't been myself. This girl is just exhausted. Ray, thank you for being an amazing husband, 12 years coming up ❤️ my auntie, my uncle, and in-laws for the continued love and support through this tough time.
My 33rd birthday is around the corner, and I want to host a fundraiser with the hopes of getting myself and one other person some assistance with emergency medical expenses for at least 2 months by splitting the total funds raised with The Chris Patino Hero Fund carefully and lovingly created by @anotherroundanotherrally commemorative of the passing of a beloved industry hero.

My friends, I thank you, I love you. by @magicbeeeans
