THE GREAT MISDIRECTION

In tribute to the 100th anniversary of Harry Houdini’s death, Mudd the Magnificent stages a daring magic show with one goal: to summon Houdini’s spirit. But when his wife, Bess, unexpectedly appears instead, the evening spirals into a whirlwind of revelations, humor, and delightful chaos.

Looking for a venue, director, stage manager, or producer — if that’s you (or someone you know), let’s talk.

This one’s been quiet a long time. Time to let it breathe.

Honored to be featured in the October 2026 Academy of Magical Arts newsletter! “My Name Is Mudd” tells the shocking true story behind the magnificence, as confessed by Jimmy H, from a monster-loving kid who discovered magic at 12, to a scare actor yelling “Boo!” in the dark, to the moment a monster magician was born.

Catch Mudd live in “Torn, Tattered & Restored” tomorrow and Saturday, October 9 and 10 at 7 PM, at Illusion Magic Lounge in Santa Monica. AMA members get 25% off with code MUDDHAPPENS.

Huge thanks to the Academy for the feature! 💀

Help me wish my beautiful niece @lillanobrien a very happy 19th birthday! 🎉

You are talented, kind, and so full of light. I’m so proud of you. I’d go to the ends of the earth for you and your sister, a hundred times over, no question. Know how deeply loved you are, today and always.

Happy birthday, Lilla. 💫

👹 Calling all Southern California Scare Actors! 👹

Mudd the Magnificent has a big show coming up this October — four nights across two weekends (10/2, 10/3, 10/9, 10/10) — and I’m looking for a couple of scare actors who want to get in character and help bring some fun, creepy atmosphere to the crowd before, during, and after the show.

This is playful and interactive more than anything else — not a haunt. Think fun, memorable creepy character work for a live audience that’s already excited to be there.

This isn’t a big-budget gig, but I’ll cover your parking and kick back a little cash for your time.

If you’ve got those four nights open and want to be part of Mudd’s world, message me and I’ll fill you in on the details — and feel free to tag or share with anyone who might be a good fit!

Then & Now 🎩

Growing up as one of the @magiccastlejuniors at the @magiccastlehollywood was so important to my story and it shaped who I am — literally grew up inside those walls, learning from legends, performing on that very stage as a teenager, and making some of the best friends a young misfit could ask for.

This week I got to come back as an alumnus for Future Stars of Magic as I did in the late 90’s

Full circle doesn’t even cover it.

Clearly, I’ve matured. 🚽

Had the opportunity to hang at the @magicapplestore and partake in the 1902 sessions with a true master of the pasteboards @thecardfathervip. Tony and I have known each other for many many years and I go by the name “Jimmy H” on stage (and in real life) because of him. Solid guy with chops that will fry your brain. I’m going to end this post the way he always ends his and it gives me the goosebumps every time I read it….yes success! 📸 by @magicalknights #magic #magicians #magicshop #cards #master taken in The Magic Apple by @magicjimmyh

Found this little gem of a button souvenir from the @unistudios world famous tram tour. Mid 80’s is my guess. Love me some @chaneyentertainment. Pops looks happy ☺️ That horror seed was planted very young. ❤️💀❤️ taken in Universal Studios Hollywood by @magicjimmyh
